An apparent home invasion robbery Thursday led to a foot pursuit and suicide
attempt near the KB Home Terra Serena residential complex west of South
Abel Street, according to Milpitas Police Department reports.
At about 8:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of a home invasion
robbery on Vida Larga Loop near Cielo Lindo Common.
Police learned suspect, a man, was still in the area. A short foot pursuit
ensued.
Police radio reports indicated the suspect was acting suicidal. At some
point, he cut himself with a knife across the throat, according to emergency
radio transmissions. The suspect was taken into custody and required
medical attention.
"He is alive," Milpitas police Sgt. Raj Maharaj said.
Police identified the man as Sun Sim, 30, of Santa Clara,
The preliminary investigation allegedly revealed he is an acquaintance of a
28-year-old Milpitas woman living at the complex, police said. During the
incident, the woman sustained minor injuries, but declined immediate medical
attention.
On Friday, Maharaj could not confirm the suspect attacked the woman or cut
himself with the knife.
"It's an ongoing investigation," he said. |
