乔老当时被MBA们忽悠了吧!
的确,如果80-90年代能够双雄对决,一定很精彩。

don't get me wrong, being defeated at one time is okay, it's nothing to
deny or to be ashamed of, especially when he got a glorious come back and
end up on top.

windows -- very open. not at the OS level. but completely open at the
application level.
iOS -- semi open. closed at the OS level. semi open at the application
level (tight control on app store)
mac -- used to be closed in the 80s. now it's semi open (probably close
to windows now -- but I am not a mac developer so I don't know the
details)
oracle, cisco -- closed in terms of their own products. but they are
built on the top of open standards (SQL, TCP/IP), which means anyone can
build an application to interact with them based on open standards.
boeing, viagra -- closed system and they don't have to be open. not all
products have to be "open". The open/closed debate mostly makes sense
only for information exchange domain, which the IT industry falls into.
systems 还

Last month, there was a documentary on Jobs on CNBC. Jobs pretty much screwed up the
company after Apple II. Apprarently, at that time, he did not have any
vision for Apple company. Instead stirred a lot of internal fight.
