Justice and Rights for Overseas Chinese Foundation
discrimination, e.g.cheap Chinese products),racial bully (e.g. chink, go
50 for student member, $100 member, $
200 senior member
you

rights, we can consider.

J*******p 发帖数: 1129 | 16 It's a good start! One organization is probably not enough. IMHO, overseas
Chinese need at least two:
1. A grass-root non-profit organization acts as a watch dog to monitor any
racist and discriminatory incidents against Chinese Americans, to notify and
encourage and felicitate members to take actions such as sending letters to
local legislators, contacting sponsors of media programs, and boycotting
certain companies.
This non-profit should be supported by donation. Membership should be free
to reach more people.
2. A legal organization with paid membership could fight in the court for
racial discrimination and racial based hate speech. |
J*******p 发帖数: 1129 | 17 Chinese American could learn much from the Hispanic community. Have you
heard of La Raza, which literally means the Race?
Read the About Us from The National Council of La Raza website. Is it any
wonder that the Hispanic American (including the illegal ones) has such a
great political influence?
"The National Council of La Raza (NCLR)—the largest national Hispanic civil
rights and advocacy organization in the United States—works to improve
opportunities for Hispanic Americans. Through its network of nearly 300
affiliated community-based organizations, NCLR reaches millions of Hispanics
each year in 41 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia. To
achieve its mission, NCLR conducts applied research, policy analysis, and
advocacy, providing a Latino perspective in five key areas—assets/
investments, civil rights/immigration, education, employment and economic
status, and health. In addition, it provides capacity-building assistance to
its Affiliates who work at the state and local level to advance
opportunities for individuals and families.
Founded in 1968, NCLR is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan, tax-exempt
organization headquartered in Washington, DC, serving all Hispanic subgroups
in all regions of the country. It has regional offices in Chicago, Los
Angeles, New York, Phoenix, and San Antonio and state operations throughout
the nation." |

When the Los Angeles civil riots erupted in 1992, there was no national
voice speaking on behalf of Korean Americans. It was apparent that a strong,
effective national Korean American organization was needed to help
safeguard civil rights, facilitate communication and cooperation with other
racial and ethnic groups, and actively combat discrimination and racism. |
