发帖数: 1208 | 1 SCA5 is a very bad law if passed in CA. But this whole episode isn't all
bad at all. Because it serves as a rude awakening to many Chinese and other
Asian Americans. Just being hardworking, focusing on family values and
education isn't enough. We need to get more involved in communities, issues
that have social and broad public impact.
I have long argued the racial preference affirmative action is wrong and
harmful. Many Asians including Chinese criticized me. SCA5 may be the
extreme but it's the same thing along the racial line. SCA5 will lead to
quotas which clearly is against the U.S. constitution (quota is illegal) and
everything American values stand for.
But fundamentally, we must recognize all preference policies based on race
and/or ethnicity are wrong and should be banned by the Supreme Court of the
U.S.
Please join the fight against AA and laws such as SCA5.

发帖数: 1208 | 3 Yes, you are right. It's unfortunate. Many Chinese immigrants, even
including many well educated ones, are like this. In an authoritarian
regime, this may be the way to achieve success without community involvement
. But it's a big mistake in a democratic society where personal, group,
community interests are earned, not given. And particularly in a racially
diverse and democratic country such as the U.S., Chinese Americans must
stand up for their own interests....Because if we don't, nobody will.
