Thank you for your recent correspondence regarding your opposition to SCA 5,
authored by Senator Hernandez. I appreciate you taking the time to write.
I have met with a number of constituents regarding this issue.
Senate Constitutional Amendment 5 would place a measure on the state ballot
to remove California’s public university system from the provisions of
Proposition 209, allowing for the consideration of race in recruitment,
admission, and retention programs in our higher education system.
This bill passed in the Senate. However, it will not be heard in the
Assembly.
Again, thank you for keeping me informed of your thoughts. It is an honor
and privilege to represent you in the California State Assembly.
