Heinlein's Prophetic First Novel, Lost and Found

In 1939, after leaving the United States Navy and failing in local
politics in California, Robert A. Heinlein, then 32, decided to become
a writer. He wrote a Utopian novel, "For Us, the Living," taking the
title from Lincoln's Gettysburg Address. Two publishers rejected it,
