told I wasn't admitted. I didn't receive any email one way or the other, the
status on the web site still shows pending. If I received a note saying
that I was denied admission for reasons 1-2-3 I would be happy to accept it.
But at this point, I am really disappointed about how (lack of transparency
, poor communication) this is being run and I am going to write to the M
board of directors about the admission process.
Granted, it is a great/premier climbing course, but things should be run in
a better way.

But since it is a huge commitment so better communicate with the applicant as earlier as possible (as least before promised deadline) so people can have second choice. And it is better to have specific criteria for acceptance.
I sent an email one month ago to the basic climb chair offering possible help on SIG assistance, but did not get any response too. We could definitely do things better.

today's party? Even I received the notice pretty late and could not

I've been a hard ass all along, never tried to be a nice guy in my life, and
of course, did voice my concerns to Tom and attacked his work as poorly
organized and I went to the extend saying that if I am on the same rope as
people who wouldn't communicate well, I would be very scared. As a result,
he took the 50-year anniversary M book I got from the party registration at
the door. :-) saying I didn't pay for it, and then suggested me to check out
scrambling courses or wait for next year.

I still suggest you sending emails to related persons to explain the issue
and to suggest things that could be improved next year. Speak out so your
voice can be heard.
You don't have to be a nice guy, but sometimes being nicer can help you to
let people understand and accept your concern/points better and easier.
It's not all the case, but sometimes works well in a volunteer organization
where people have less responsibility comparing with paid positions.

发帖数: 746 | 50 Talked with Tina, Seattle basic climbing program admin tonight and got the
information below:
1. All applications are handled by first come first serve rule.
2. This year our basic class quota is 160, and we got about 200 applications
before closing the registration, so the last 40 students got rejected.
3. There are still some students haven't paid their tuition, if they don't
pay before deadline, they will be removed and their positions will be filled
from the rejected list by the same first come first serve rule.
4. Tom actually prepared the rejection letter pretty early, but they had
technique failure and couldn't get students' email list to send out those
emails. The only technique admin who designed the online system is out of
country for climbing and couldn't be contacted till now. They are trying
other ways to dig out their emails but haven't successed yet.
5. They apologize for all the inconvenience that brought.
