Sheldon M. Ross
Some exercise problems are too hard, hope to get some help with the manual. |

consequence. I teach in a university and I am not kidding.
If you get stucked by some steps, just ask your instructor for hint. Show
him/her where you cann't get through. You will get at least partial point,
and probably a good impression that you care about your work.
It is very important to be honest person in the USA. |
h**h 发帖数: 488 | 3 The course I am taking does not require any homework turn in. Last year,
another instructor even did not use textbook exercises for homework,
considering exercises were too high level for students in our department for
a low level course.
This book is a classic probability one and can be used to teach various
subjects in many fields. For our level, we go really fast which is the
reason my professor does not require to do homework at all. For some
chapters he already gave us the solutions. My con

j*****e 发帖数: 182 | 4 I never used this book. But from someone that taught math stat many times, I
heard that this is a "baby" math stat book. Are you in Biostat? If you are
concerned about the level that you are learning, please read Casellor's math
stat book. A lot of solution manu are available. But they are made for
instructor, not students. It is not appropriate for a student to carry that,
no matter what your excuse is. |
h**h 发帖数: 488 | 5 This board can share SAS exams, why not the solution to some books?
I don't have excuse, I am on my own way to learn the knowledge. The book may
be a primary one but some exercises are hard.
I just post here to see if some students can share the information... |
n*****3 发帖数: 1584 | 6 It is not an easy book/problems, at least harder than
StatInference books by cas/berger.
BTW since you have some chapter, why not share it with
us? thanks.

j*****e 发帖数: 182 | 7 Are you troubled by those chapters on stochastic processes. The beginning of
the book is suited for undergrad into stat. But the later chapters rushed
through more advanced topics. That may explain why your instructor didn't
assign/collect homework.
Books are written by humans. Material is taught by humans. Don't get stuck
by those small hurdles. If you want to study stochastic process, go to your
library and grab an intro book on that.
There are solution manu for students. You are welcome to lo |
h*******e 发帖数: 68 | 8 This textbook is not for math stat, but for stochastic process. The first
few chapters are preparations for the main topic.
Some exercises are tricky. As long as you just want to learn stochastic
process, you can skip those too hard exercises. |
j*****e 发帖数: 182 | 9 I just went to amazon and looked at the book's index. Sorry, I must have
confused it with the intro math stat book by Ross. This is a stochastic
process book and it got mixed reviews. Some reader even shared the same
comment as huih.
Anyway, there are other books and articles on stochastic processes. Students
are not limited to learn from one particular book.
