I played 1st single a few times, won some, lose some. The worst lose was 1:6
,1:6.
I won a local 3.5 tournamont last year. The match that I was most proud of
was the semifinal against a Indian guy, who slice almost every ball with
side spins both forehand and backhand, and place the ball well. I lost the
first set 1:6, and the second set he led 5:1. All of a sudden I seems to
find his weakness in handling high balls and change of pace, and start to
come back. I took the next 6 games and won the second set 7:5. He was
totally broken down and lose the super tiebreak 2:10.
I think i am an average 3.5. | b*********s

容易。
一些observation:
1。看上去还不够放松，感觉握拍可能太紧.如果放松的话，拍头该自然的荡下对着地面。
2。最后lift off的时候，你的右脚超越了左脚，我觉得这可能会影响到你的
consistency和control. 你的发球stance 和Andy Murray 像，他的右脚也是向前一步
，但基本上不会超越左脚位置。
3。你的身体在击球那刹那间有些太偏斜了,不知道是camera角度还是抛球有些偏左。球
抛的偏左会迫使身体偏斜来调整，让你loose power 和 control.

should challenge yourself to 4.0. USTA 3.5 league is full of 3.5+, 4.0- and

it happened to some guys I know. but only for that year. next year he's ...
well, still able to go to some nationals supposed to be previous year's
season. natual usta rating bump won't dq nationals.

league, single only, double only leagues etc. Serious sand-baggers do not
play in those leagues, or they will play and loose on purpose so they don't
get dq for the Spring league (the one that qualify for sectional -> regional
-> national). Thus Spring League is extremely competitive.

且到了sectional national其实都是sandbagger，相对就都不是sandbagger了，其实就
相当于提前下一级别的混战

This is in line with my estimate. I did not think his serve is at average
in 4.0 league.

1）握拍是太紧了。
2）我也发现了，有意识的改成和左脚并排了，下回录下来看看是不是该成功了。
3）我有意把球抛得偏左偏后，想迫使身体成反弓，不过好像没做成反弓，成倾斜了：）
下回练习试试把球抛的考前靠右，看看啥效果。
我本意是要发kick serve, 全发成slice 了。现在我的kick serve 有点kick 的意思
了。
我平击发球可以轻松一弹触网，不过个矮 （不到170），太容易出界。
把练习的水平融入进比赛太不容易了。我比赛都用二发，还是不少双误。练习我能命中
80%。

0. He only missed 1 serve, and it's not by much. All of the serve lands deep

spin and a decent bend trajectory making not easy to put away.
It is true if his game is build around his serve, then you are right, it's
not enough to do well at 4.0. But my speculation is he is more of a topspin
"grinder", and his shortcoming might be not enough patient, too tight in a
match, and often over plays a point.

When judging serving level using a powerful racket like Babolat PD, I
weigh more on the consistency over speed. In the video I do not think
he is going for the pace -- serving 2 bounce to fense using a PD is
really nothing -- yet he could not make every ball in.
As he pointed out in another post, he makes lot of DFs. That's the common
headache of using a powerful racket. It's hard to serve DF using a Wilson
90. One doesn't even need to try hard, hehe.
I gave hime "above average 3.5" rating on serves. It roughly match my
experiene returning other 3.5's serves.
I personally do not think his serve can be of any threat against you...
hehe.

coming out of the turn too early for the kick serve, thus it end up to be
more of slice. Try to stay at the 反弓 position a tick longer, let the ball
drop a bit more, and aim for the 7 or 8 o'clock of the ball for the kick.

be slice.... that is worrisome. lol
As for the 2 bounce to the fence, it's not easy to slice serve and hit the
fence within 2 bounce. Flat serve sure.

the ball (my tennis friends told me）. I am now trying to shorten
the back swing, especially in returning serve to improve the consistency.
I like to play power, maybe because I used to play a lot of
soccer, basketball etc. I am lack of patience in the game.
Whenever possible, I will try to make a kill, occasionally I can have a good
shot, but more often it will end up with an easy miss. I felt I improved
some after playing one season in USTA and challenge ladder,
but still a long way to go to reach to 4.0 level.
I see you are also in TX, which part of TX? I am in Beaumont, TX,
a small town 80miles east of Houston. Thanks much for you advice.

就是4.0.
关于"shorten backswing", 你要注意会不会影响你的上旋. 我认为你更该focus在准备
早. 球在过网的刹那间, 你的准备动作就该到位了. 很多3.5, 4.0都是等到球落地后才
开始准备动作. 我猜想你也准备的教晚,很多球feels rushed, 所以想shorten
backswing.
你的球在3.5, 4.0 是power, 但在4.5很多人都不会怕这power了, 这也是为什么我给
grinder打引号. 建议不要太靠power赢球,improve 你的angle 和patient, 对以后发展
很有帮助.
我住在Austin, 常去Houston. 有机会可以交流.这里也有很多Houston的高手.他们最近
都比较低调.... o.O
