Each of the 156 DFW metroplex high schools included in this analysis was
evaluated on its success on meeting this objective, based on three factors:
1) students performance on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic
Readiness (STAAR) tests administered by the Texas Education Commission (TEA)
, 2) participation in and successful completion of Advanced Placement (AP)
and International Baccalaureate (IB) courses and advanced/dual credit
courses, and 3) percentage of graduating seniors taking the SAT and/or ACT
