Several individuals have been arrested in Houston after a nationwide search
for suspects in a string of similar home invasions in the Ann Arbor area, as
well as New Jersey, Georgia and Texas.
The suspects were arrested on Dec. 3 and Dec. 4 in Houston, with assistance
from Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County detectives, according to the Washtenaw
County Sheriff's Office.

Additional arrests and charges are expected, as the investigation is still
ongoing, police said.
At least four incidents of home invasions were reported during the week of
Thanksgiving in Canton Township, Ypsilanti Township, Ann Arbor Township and
Ann Arbor.
Police believe the suspects were targeting individuals of Asian or Indian
descent.
In several of the incidents, a teenage-looking suspect knocked on victims'
doors, police said. Once the door was opened, he and two adult males hidden
nearby would force their way in.
At least five people were taken into custody for similar home invasions in
Texas, according to Texas media outlets.
New Jersey media outlet NJ.com identified Chaka Castro, 39; Juan Olaya, 34;
Octavius Scott, 22; and Johnisha Williams, 19, as individuals arrested in
Texas and suspected in similar crimes in New Jersey.
Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office spokesman Derrick Jackson said he could
not verify the names of the individuals suspected, as no charges have been
filed in Washtenaw County. However, he did confirm that several of the five
individuals arrested in Texas are suspected in the Michigan crimes.
He said area detectives, including those in Canton, have been involved with
the nationwide search for the suspects since the beginning and they traveled
to Texas following the arrests to continue the investigation.
He said police are now trying to determine which individuals were involved
in which crimes, why Asian and Indian individuals were targeted and what was
done with the valuables.
Overall, however, Jackson said the progress is a good feeling.
"It's so rare to have armed invasions in this area and they were
particularly waiting for people to come home. It's a very scary thing for
our community," he said. "To be this close to really solving these cases is
a breakthrough and a huge sense of relief." | c*****g 发帖数: 3871 | |
