corporate announced lay-off this morning. The whole group was cut off.
Regular employees got severance package as expected. I got nothing as a
contractor. I have stayed with this company for 3 years (In Texas). I was
paid weekly W2 (just checked with my paystubs)
Can I collect unemployment benefits? HR does not know since she is never
done with contractors before and I am the only one in my group facing this
dilemma.
Any advice? My brain is blank now.

看看你的paycheck上有没有失业保险（UI）这一项，如果公司没有给你交这个保险，很
大可能你不能领失业救济。 最好给你工作所在州的UI部门打个电话确认一下。

If 1099, do it by yourself.
If W2, make an appointment with HR.

发帖数: 672 | 6 It is OK. I was laid off before. I checked my paychecks and I didn't see UI
anywhere. I'm sure my company is paying that for me. You will need to check
other resources to confirm.
If you do have unemployment benefit, you will have to apply jobs certain
times a week to meet this requirement.

With W-2, you should be able to get Unemployment.

他知道不知道、办理没办理过是他的事情，他去解决你的问题是他的责任和义务。
