Means check on Social Security is a good way if not the only way to sustain
this program.
Let's stop pretending SS can be sustained as a retirement plan. It is indeed
a tax that evetually fund welfare to retirees.
People with income comfortably higher than poverty level DURING RETIREMENT
should NOT receive social security.
An added benefit? When we face the reality SS is a tax, not a retirement
plan, we don't need to make it a special payroll tax any more. It becomes a
part of standard income tax, with no income cap and can be levied on
investment returns as well.

retire. the probability for it to sustain to that time is too low. advice
from my co-worker: "don't count on it"
I imagine 3 scenarios:
1. Means check is established and I sincerely hope I would be successful
enough to be over the means check. In that case, I d feel luck to NOT
receive social security.
2. Or the benefit tailed hyper inflation for too long so what ever payment
one receives can not buy a thing. So effectively I will not receive social
security.
3. Or it goes completely bankrupt and cease to exist, in which case, nobody
gets one penny of social security.
