Hey, John, why the long face?
The Institute for the Study of War has learned and confirmed that,
contrary to her representations, Ms. Elizabeth O’Bagy does not in fact have
a Ph.D. degree from Georgetown University. ISW has accordingly terminated
Ms. O’Bagy’s employment, effective immediately.

Since her credibility had already been blown to smithereens last week, we’
re wondering what took so long. Curiously, she’s still listed as political
director for this dubious outfit.
But she’s still an expert or something.
“Elizabeth is one of the best experts on Syria and her field work
inside Syria along with her extensive networks on the ground makes her one
of few people that can help inform policy makers on the reality on the
ground,” said Mouaz Moustafa, the executive director of the Syrian
Emergency Task Force.
We’re sure she’ll resurface at some Democrat think tank. Via David Reaboi,
who also notes this:
While John McCain has called her “doctor,” she isn’t one technically.
“You can call me doctor, if you want,” O’Bagy said. She graduated
Georgetown in 2013. The U.S. government has spent over a $1 billion on aid
to the Syrian rebels, with nearly half going to the Department of State,
which is used for “institution building,” and the other half going to
USAID, which is used for diaspora community relations.
In other words, U.S. taxpayers are funding this fraud and we were all gung-
ho to bomb Syria based on her advice. You got to wonder about people who go
by two different names.
Update: Hmmm:
The Institute for the Study of War is lying. They knew @lizobagy did not
yet have her Ph.D. She had worked for them for years.
