What happens when a belligerent nurse refuses to obey the law and throws a
week-long temper tantrum aided and abetted by the Democratic Party and the
media? Most of America recoils in horror and disgust.
You own this one, Democrats.
Kaci Hickox, the nurse who fought to get out of a quarantine instituted
by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R), won the first round of her PR battle.
Winning the second round will be very difficult.
Since being transferred to another state-ordered quarantine at her home
in Maine, Hickox has said she wouldn’t abide by that quarantine, arguing
that it’s pointless and illegal to force her to do so. So on Thursday, she
went on a well-publicized bike ride.
It’s clear that Hickox believes in her cause and that she’ll continue
to fight against such quarantines in a case that could affect future efforts
by governors to institute such measures (she might even sue Christie over
her treatment). But when it comes to convincing the American people that her
cause is just, she’s got her work cut out for her.
A CBS News poll released Wednesday showed a whopping 80 percent of
Americans believe that some kind of quarantine is warranted for U.S.
citizens traveling from West Africa back to the United States. I would argue
that number is probably a little bit inflated — CBS didn’t mention that
such quarantines last 21 days or where they would take place — but it’s
pretty clear the vast majority of Americans are on-board with a whatever-it-
takes approach to containing the spread of the disease.
Another case in point is the latest Washington Post-ABC News poll, which
shows 70 percent of Americans want some kind of travel restrictions when it
comes to people traveling to the United States from West Africa.
Overwhelming majorities favor quarantines and whether this is based on fear
or not doesn’t matter. Americans, like most humans, don’t want to be
infected by a virus that results in explosive diarrhea, projectile vomiting,
the liquefying of your organs and a gruesome death. They also don’t want
to be lectured daily by a self-absorbed “look at me” pawn of the Democrats
and to be told they’re stupid for not believing in the supposed science
behind Ebola and quarantines.
The media’s behavior in this is also loathsome, as noted in the first
paragraph in the link where they claim she “won” against Chris Christie.
Christie isn’t the story here, but the media can’t help themselves. They
make zero mention that Democrat governors across the nation are also
imposing quarantines, but hey, they’re not Republicans with presidential
aspirations.
Hickox has lost any goodwill she had a week ago and the more she remains in
the spotlight the less people want to see her. It’s time she grew up and
acted like a professional. Hopefully the next time we hear from her she’ll
be whining about her inability to get a job. | S**C 发帖数: 2964 | 2 I don't think she is running for public office, and judge just rejected
quarantine for her, so no law was broken it appears.

| S**C 发帖数: 2964 | 6 I am not surprised by the poll by the way, it is always convenient and comfy
if someone else pay the price, monetary or not. But the ruling today is a
nice reminder this country is still (and hopefully be kept that way) a
REPUBLIC and ruled by laws and constitution, not by public opinions. I am
curious where are the TPers when we need them, or are they just interested
in 2nd, not 4th and 5th?
