A Government which cannot feed its people, house them adequately, provide
health and education needs, and a secure economic safety net of benefits and
pensions on a livable level - such a Government is a failed government. | b*********3
发帖数: 1709 | 2 The US is a deeply religious country. There, the accumulation of wealth is
viewed as a blessing from god….. it is a sign of divine reward for a
virtuous life. It is a blessing. The corollary, of course, also applies.
Poverty is god’s punishment for a sinful existence. Only the inherently
wicked and undeserving are poor.
I had often wondered why Christianity took such a perverted turn when it
crossed the Atlantic. But in an article by George Monbiot many years ago (in
the Guardian), he explained it rather well.
The free market is capitalism run riot. Evolving and mutating without
constraint. Much like the dinosaurs, in fact, which evolved in such
unwieldly ways that eventually their gigantism rendered them unsustainable.
The excesses of the free market will be forced to end. And as it was for the
dinosaurs, it may be an apocalyptic change in climate that does it. |
