上面这么写的：
We ask that all applications are submitted in person at the consulate. Those
who live outside Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties and are unable to
appear in person may apply by mail.
关于取签证也是类似：
You must appear in person to pick up your visa unless you live outside
Oakland, Macomb and Wayne counties and are unable to appear in person.
我感觉是我在这三个county之外，递材料和取签证都可以通过邮寄。
哪位给我核实一下。
另外，如果申请 temp visitor visa是多久的有效期？ m年 n次？

发帖数: 776 | 2 We are in Ohio and did the mail-in application from Detroit Consulate about
a month ago. Very easy and smooth. Passport and VIsa came back in about 2
weeks. The temp visitor visa we got is valid for 2 months into the future. 1
entry and 14-day maximum stay. Hope this helps. |

what does the 2 months into the future mean? you applied in Jan ,and the
visa only vaild until March?
I am going to Japan at roughly around Aug 20th, does that mean I have to
apply it after June 20th?

Yes, this is our case.
The application form asks your planned Japan trip date. I am not sure they
will adjust the VISA ending date based on the info you provide. Give them a
ring and you will know for sure :)
