发帖数: 9094 | 8 IMHO, the tools we have in the digital age is ready to tackle the problems
in school.
For example, "allowing schools to separate high, average or low performers
in mathematics into different classrooms" could be accomplished in the same
physical classroom by allowing students to log on into online math lectures
at DIFFERENT levels (with headphones for students).
1. Math is such a universal subject, which has been taught to generations of
student, that there must exist at least one proven method teaching each
concept of the subject efficiently.
2. Hire one of the best teacher or teachers and make a series of videos of
how the teacher explains the concepts.
3. Upload the videos to a web site and categorize them into different levels
.
4. Assign each student to the appropriate level based on his or her
performance. Then allow them to view the videos at their levels.
5. Set up live online discussions for each level for a group of students at
the same level regularly. Allow online tutoring or Q&A.
6. Give the same test to the same level of students regularly, and reassess
the progress of each student.
By following this protocol, there is no need to ask for different classrooms
or different teachers in the same school. The same teacher can teach the
general topics to all students, then allow each student to learn extra
stuffs on his or her own by studying online lectures.
We are in the 21st century. Therefore, we do have choices to improve the
way math is taught in schools. |
