even an offer letter for a regular employee job would specify things like "
this is an at-will job, eithe party can terminate without advance notice..."

so if you don't want to do the work nobody can force you to do it,i.e., you
can quit any job at any time and there is nothing anyone else can do about
it.
Just think: if you don't quit, you always have the option to still stay in
the position, collect every paycheck and just simply don't show up to work.
No employer is so dumb to let that happen.
