The word "classical" is a very good one here. For things have been changing.
Yes, indeed, it was, and it is, will it still be so? Unclear. To elaborate in
plain English, let me use a common example for economics 101 student. On a
4-lane highway, you don't see any police officer direct the traffic to ease
the flow of the traffic. No need. Why? Because when you see, say lane 2 is

book I have read was that by Weber, I believe. As to Marx, I have only read
his "Communist Manifesto" and 2 volumns out of 3-volumn "The Capital". Sartre
said Marx's philosophy is insurmountable. Insurmountable or not, as a pure
philosophy system, it might truly be superb. Unfortunately, I'm an amature in
philosophy. Not in a position to judge.
In economics, Marx was at best considered unorthodox. Few schools in USA

very true. this aside, the "mainstream" is hard to define at first place. I
guess it would mean a little differently from the "mainstream" as in "melting
into american society mainstream" as so many people are longing to. To judge
if there is a "mainstream" for whole academics world in USA is well beyond my
