The faint, starry image jumped a little — very little, in fact. But the
heart of young Clyde Tombaugh, who saw the telltale twitch late one Tuesday
afternoon in February 1930, jumped a good bit more. Lowell Observatory, in
Flagstaff, Arizona, had hired Tombaugh just one year earlier.
