has the LG LSB316 Sound Bar / Home Theater in a Box for 219.99 + Free
Shipping. Add to car for $80 off. Tax applies in some states.
It is a 280W 2.1 Channel Virtual Surround Sound System, with wireless
subwoofer. It comes with wall brackets for optional mounting.
Pluses:
*Easy installation, space-saver, good aesthetics
*Decent sound for a sound bar (according to reviews)
*Wireless sub-woofer
*Built-in Bluetooth lets you sync your iPod, iPhone (this is the feature a
lot of reviews rave about and the main feature that tipped the balance for
me)
Minuses:
*The obvious one is this won't sound as good as a true surround 5.1 system
at the same price (which you can get from the likes of Onkyo)
*Requires optical cable for connection
*Some reports of trouble syncing with universal remotes (anyone successfully
did this with a HarmonY?)
I just ordered this after doing a lot of research on this model, as well as
considering another option (receiver + floor standing speakers). My living
room can't really support a full 5.1 surround system, so it was either sound
bar or floor-standing. The floor-standing I was considering would cost ~$
300 more (including receiver) and produce much better sound, but I went with
this as I'm not an audiophile and will use it primarily for movies/TV. I
was also prepared to pay $250 for it, but stumbled across the $220 price
while browsing Newegg and pulled the trigger.
