There is a new millionaire in Brownsville.
Saturday night’s $16 million winning Lotto Texas ticket was sold at the
Stripes store, at 1544 Palm Blvd.
As of late Monday afternoon, no one had come forward to claim the money,
said Leticia Vasquez, spokeswoman for the Texas Lottery.
“We are just waiting to hear from somebody,” Vasquez said.
The winning numbers are 8-34-37-44-46-54.
The individual who bought the ticket selected the cash value option, which
means the person will collect more than $10.9 million. However, this does
not include another $2.5 million that will be taken out for federal taxes.
The establishment that sold the winning ticket stands to collect about $160,
000.
The last time a winning Lotto Texas ticket was sold in Brownsville was on
Jan. 1, 2003, for $53 million. The winner, which called itself the Victory
Trust of San Juan opted to receive the cash value option receiving $16.2
million. This figure did not include the amount taken out for taxes.
Meanwhile, the winner or winners of a Lotto Texas ticket sold in McAllen on
Aug. 11 have yet to come forward, Vasquez said. That ticket is worth $4.1
million.
The winner of that drawing and Saturday’s drawing have a 180 days from the
night the winning numbers are drawn to collect their prizes. | m***l 发帖数: 1267 | |
