“Claire is a 40-lb Labrador Mix in our care. She was rescued on the streets
of Miami Springs earlier this year. She is an awesome dog - housebroken,
loving, devoted, loyal, smart and possessive. Her main drawback is that for
the first 15 minutes that she sees you, she is beside herself with fanatical
enthusiasm. Once this phase is past, she is calm, serene and very loving;
she will lie at your feet, content to be near you. Claire's only other
drawback is that she would prefer to be the only dog in the household.
Claire was originally in a foster home where her enthusiasm was too much for
the foster mom and she attacked the older dog in the household. She moved
from that home back to the vet. Gabi, our dog trainer/friend/volunteer,
worked diligently with Claire daily and the effort paid off big time. Claire
knows her commands and desperately wants to be a good girl.
Claire was then fostered by this wonderful couple for two months. They fell
in love with her, but their situation changed and they have put their house
on the market - so they can no longer keep her while their household is in
limbo. It was very difficult for them to part with her, but there really was
no other alternative. So, Claire has been boarded at our vet now for about
a month and she is not doing well. At the clinic, she is walked three times
a day, but she is not getting any of the attention she so desperately craves
. About a week ago, her tail was injured. They believe it is from the dog in
the run next to her; particularly since she is not messing with the bandage
at all. On Sunday, she hurt her back. They believe this is a result of her
jumping like crazy in the run for attention. Claire has now been moved into
a small cage in an effort to keep her from injuring herself further.
I am putting out this plea to save this little girl's life. She is not a
good candidate for a shelter - even a no-kill shelter - since she would not
pass the behavioral assessment in an environment where she is caged along
with other dogs. There are no options for Claire other than a foster home or
a permanent home. And she is GREAT in a home environment!
If you know of anyone that does not have other dogs who would consider
taking Claire into their home even on a temporary basis, please, please let
me know. Ask coworkers, family, friends... maybe somebody knows somebody who
knows somebody.

需要一个家里没有狗，但最好有过养狗经验的人。
