发帖数: 467 | 6 Yes, you can. What if you match into advanced programs without a preliminary
one? This question is very complex. You are unmatched. But the programs
usually do not set themselves in such dilemmas. If one advanced program such
as neuro or rad really likes you and you are an IMG at the same time, PD or
chair usually advises you to apply TYP or preliminary int med in the same
university. They usually give a phone call to int med PD and ask him/her to
rank you high simultaneously. Other advanced programs like nuclear medicine
or PMR which is much less influential prefer you to have pgy1 complete
already. Such candidates usually go off cycle. If not, they will not select
you no matter how excellent you are. Int med program is kind of snobbish
ya. Anesthesiology program has connections with prelim surgery. So they
will advise you to choose preli surgery program in the same university. If
you receive 2 ivs including one preli and one advanced program in the same
university, that is a very good sign. | M*****1

院的transitional。我马上申请了，但是不知道在PM&R面试之前能受到消息吧。现在还
没面试，人家喜不喜欢我还不好说，不合适让PM&R去跟内科打招呼吧？另外我申请了一
些外地的surgery prelim，希望可能性能大一些。 | z**********4

hospital compared with rad or neuro. Their words count less in Int Med
department. I assume that they advise you to apply the programs they
recommended. In ranking days, if PD likes you, he or she will make a phone
call to int med dept or TYP. If PD in preli programs is reluctant to rank
you or rank you high, this PMR program is less likely to rank you high. But
if you can not acquire the ivs from their recommended preli prgs, they will
not rank you at all.

rank me high吗？That sucks。总不能要prelim的prematch吧？

what I said is just from my own experience. There must be tons of deviation
from prg to prg. Good luck to ya. | c***d
