看来你对这个领域比较了解，和我收集到的信息比较一致。
个人感觉我现在缺的就是计算机方面的背景。我想如果今后做bioinformatics或者
biomedical informatics的话，计算机方面的背景和知识非常重要，生物方面的知识因
为很多年的耳濡目染，如果某方面的知识欠缺的话，可以很快补上。所以我想加强计算
机方面的知识，掌握这个工具，然后做起事情来就会顺手的多。
因为我现在做的是Neurodegerative diseases (Huntington's Disease),这是一种
protein misfolding 引起的疾病。因为疾病的发病机制非常复杂，现在的生物研究感
觉有点小打小闹的感觉，研究某个或者几个蛋白或者基因的功能试图攻克某个疾病，个
人感觉不太可能，有点带着运气的成分。疾病的攻克需要很强大的计算机等信息技术才
能解决，因此我今后想做蛋白折叠与疾病之间的关系这个方向。
读博期间方向非常重要，不过我认为还是学习阶段。因为实验室和导师的限制，也许不
能够做自己最想做的。也许在博士毕业后，可以去合适的实验室做博后，做自己最想做

发帖数: 230 | 4 就我这里的说法来讲，Department of Biomedical Informatics一般有两个分支，一个
是传统的bioinformatics，主要囊括genomics & proteomics；另一个主要的方向其实
是clinical informatics，主要是跟医院合作的。前者跟临床也有交叉，比如GENOMICS
分析来预测癌症的发生的可能性（似乎有一个预测的东东已经被批准使用，乳腺癌相关
的吧），但总的来说是局限于研究性的；而后者则应归类为health care，跟医院直接
密切相关，服务于医院系统，这个方面的专业在全美要少很多。这一领域包含了很多的
东西，比如HUMAN FACTOR, PRIVACY, INFORMATION RETRIEVAL,NURSING INFORMATICS,
HEALTH INFORMATICS EXCHANGE,STANDARDS AND INTEROPERABILITY...我见过的一个很
COOL的软件用来帮助医生预测疾病的发生或者药物使用，可以大大降低各种因素带来的

1.奖学金很难拿，因为要绿卡才能拿项目的钱，大部分中国人是，工作的时候parttime
读书。
2.专业方向有很多，大的分bioinfo 和 clinical info，还有就是计算机（数据库，网
络安全，语音识别。。。），还有就是管理（推广评估现有软件）。
3. bioinfo 我就不提了，计算机的，统计的，生物的都在搞这个，分析各种各样的数
据；clinical info,这个东东你最好有和美国医疗系统临床紧密接触的机会，你才能了
解医生想要什么，平时都在用什么系统，你才能知道人家在说啥，有啥改进，这个方向
你的编程基础也要不错，写写web programming,建数据库,database communication;例
如改进cpoe,ER system, imaging storage...；计算机，语音识别--医生懒得写，录音
，你们识别出来记下来，网络安全保护病人隐私等等，再者就是，管理方向的就像商学
院的strategy内容了。
4.上课，有的学校要求你各个方向的课都要上，包括生理，解剖，组织胚胎学。。。，

虽然说快毕业了,可以是感觉自己和各位差距太大. 感觉在学校学的都太基本了.
目前GPA在3.54
想请教各位一些问题,因为这里读BME的中国人很少,advisor是一个在校Master学生,问
了很多他都说不知道.
1.本科毕业后实习对于申请博士有多大帮助?如果需要实习,实习多久为好?什么企业该
优先考虑?实习期间有可能拿到薪水么?
2.如果想毕业后直接进grad school, 以我3.54的GPA, GRE 就是个 550,800,4.5的水平
. 毕业前好找比较牛的professor和大学么?(申请全额奖学金) 比如说 UC San Diego,
UC -Berkeley, UCSF, UPENN,MIT,CIT, UW seattle之类的.

pathway major, like pre-med, pre-pharm, etc. about 3% of the applicants gets
into some kind of med school each year, if not, you can also try the
Caribbean med school, don't let others bull shit you those grads can't get a
