Indeed, there are many Ph.D. programs that can be closed. The first one on
my list to close would be the Religion program in Columbia university. Why
do we need Ph.D.'s specializing in religion? Leave that area to the rabis
and ministers!

2003年8月12日，到今天正好来美7周年。对我来说，5年感觉挺短，10年就觉得很长，
数字7么，不长不短的，写点东西好像正好。
7年如果看做一个可以移动的框，放在人生的初始，是从襁褓到走进小学，再往后挪挪
，是从小姑娘变成大姑娘，再后面就是从离家一天都想家的宅女到只身去北京上学。而
现在的这个框是在异国他乡度过的22岁到29岁这段人生最美丽的时光。
在美国这7年，是一场游历，一场冒险，一场人生观的洗礼。从平凡到努力追求光环，
到回归平凡。从cultural shock，到适应这里的生活，到reverse cultural shock，到

百科全书。要是记忆力一般，前看后忘得话，那就白看了。
楼主的孩子如果真如描述那样，父母一点都没帮忙，自己从level 1开始一年
内把harry porter全给读了并且理解，那肯定是天才。不是一般的brilliant,
而至少是几百万甚至几千万人里只出一个的天才。 培养天才是需要方法和计划
的，光给书看，通过看无穷多的书，三年级达到大学阅读理解水平， 那是严
重偏科了。除非楼主保留了大部分其他方面的事迹没有说。
如果真是大天才的话，赶紧联系各种专家制定一个好的培养计划吧。 别耽误了
孩子。 虎妈的两个女儿天才不一定称得上，brilliant是肯定有的，虎妈有
很好的计划，聘请了最好的各方面的老师来教。 天才陶哲轩的母亲，当年也是
请了最好的老师来教她的三个天才孩子的。 |

Though when apply pigeon hole, your proof seems not as strong
as "plus"'s brilliant "1111...11".
However, it seems your direction is more inline with fundamentals
of number theories / remainder pattern. And if we throw pigeon hole
away, your direction lead to the most optimal solution I think.
So blunt is another side of brilliant? :-) |

protecting banks from their own stupidity. Housing prices are still twice
what they were 10 years ago, despite zero real income growth.
And it gets worse, assuming the FED raises rates back to 7% from 4% to
inflate their way out of debt, then the housing market will lose 25% of its

转这篇文章不仅仅因为作者的经历超级励志，也不仅仅因为她所获得的成就，毕竟成功
有多个标准，而励志的前提是理智。这儿有两个更重要的原因：作者七年的奋斗经历，
对那些希望改变自己处境的人提供了很多技术上的帮助，如果你想改变，但是你不知道
怎么做，如何做，也许在这篇文章中，你能得到一点启发。
当然，本文对于外出留学的同学，意义更大，作者多次提到自己是如何改变固
有的思维方式适应美国的环境，但不变的是坚韧追求自己的目标。这实际上正暗合了美
国这片国土上从来就有的单枪匹马的个人奋斗精神。美国的文化尊崇这种精神，养育这
种精神，也因为这种精神而强大。
最后，作者的经历还告诉了我一件我自以为早就知道的事儿：“你的勇气属于
你自己，只要你愿意，你完全可以只依靠自己，就能提供永不枯竭的勇气。”但我发现
我身边大多数人，包括我自己，都是假知道，而去这么做的很少。这位女留学生，却做
