今年4月，我在新泽西一家商店（IPEX Home Supply）购买了一套橱柜（Armstrong
Cabinets），一下子掉到了一个大坑里，至今没爬上来。
我想我的教训不可谓不惨痛。今天写出来，给大家分享，也是让装修房子的华人同胞能够
吸取我的教训，不要陷入像我这样的困境。

我的经历的概要情况是：这套厨柜质量特别差，侧板和门变形、弯曲，板材低劣，装配
粗糙，用料和工艺都属低档，但价格特别高，总共4000多美元。后来找到厂家，厂家答
应退一部分钱，并且给我把有问题的橱柜给换了。但是，后来再无音信。打电话、写邮

通过打官司，我算明白了，为什么Armstrong Cabinets的质量为什么这样。
首先，它本身成本非常低。Armstrong Cabinets的律师在法庭不止一次地说，厂家批发
给商店，这套橱柜只收2200美元。
商店把价格翻了四倍，说成是8800多美元的高档货，什么150年老品牌，什么Made in
USA，什么批发，什么优惠51%等等，使劲忽悠。通过销售这套橱柜，商店获得了接近
100%的利润，一套就赚2000块。
其次，Armstrong Cabinets的组装工人都是工会成员。商店IPEX Home Supply在提供给
法庭的文件中说 Armstrong is an American company which builds cabinets in the
United States with American union labor. 工会的工人干活的质量如何，想必在美
国的大家都心知肚明。我一开始看到橱柜质量这么差，曾经怀疑是不是号称美国大品牌
的公司生产，以为被掉包了，现在总算明白原因了。

发帖数: 78 | 4 买了房子以后就琢磨着要装神器三代，颇费了些周折，我上craiglist找过一些人，最
便宜的说200块可以装，但是ld又觉得不太靠铺。问过lowes里面的人有没有推荐的，他
们推荐了一家专门装vent的公司，安装费370，但是他们不肯动我的cabinet，我家
cabinet到灶台如果装上神器三代大概也就26in，我觉得不太好，有点害怕安全隐患，
所以打算把cabinet往上抬。
于是就一直拖拖拉拉的，后来因为修别的东西，跟一家装修公司打了交道，我问他们能
不能装油烟机，劳模当然拍着胸脯说能装了，于是我就订了一个风和日丽的星期六叫人
来装了。
基本工作包含
1。cabinet往上抬6inch
2。墙上的6inch管道加宽到10in，
3。相应的cabinet后面那块板要换一个，而且也要打个10inch的洞和电线插座的方形孔
4。cabinet抬上去了以后，墙面上要扑两块tile，因为之前的back splash位置就变低
了。不过这两块tile最后还是被神器挡住了，所以没用一模一样的，就是去hd买了块颜
色相近的。

But my experience is they are not cheap either (e.g., my kitchen uses 20
cabinets, and it will cost me $14500 just for the cabinets and moldings).
The installation is only $79 per cabinet (size doesn't matter), so I think
the saving isn't that great.

简单的做法也要不了人工$4000. 啥子精工--- 就是补墙，油漆一下， 铺个地板砖。 铺地
板砖 handyman铺的都不差了。电线水什么都不用重新弄了。Cabinet 他从Cabinet公司order， 有时候cabinet公司包安装。
$8000的做法： 结构变了？ --- 变水电么？ 他的$8000肯定不加水电， 水电另外算。
添个小吧台和中央岛---- 版主， 这个是 Cabinet 又多了些， 跟他的labor关系没那么大。 Cabinet公司去order， Cabinet公司来装。他的人工是$8000？
算了吧， 你不用那么defense 他了， 你讲不赢我的。人无完人，他这么做，又不是很不对，蟹有蟹道， 虾有虾路, 只要有活做， 有人买账， 就是Winner。 你不用这么累的defense 他了。 我都替你不值。

可能是无底洞。contractor会忽悠你要干这干那。结果越拆越多。
就算仅仅是换drywall，那谁来打texture？你这3500不包drywall
不见得便宜。特别是如果drywall的人跟你现在谈的contractor勾结。
你上当的可能性就大。如果不拆drywall还可以。
再说cabinet，有没有molding？他会不会装？你现在的cabinet底下
是什么样的floor？如果和其它地方不match，contractor会不会做？
toe kick有没有考虑在price里面？如果cabinet 之间spacing有些差异，
你的contractor知不知道怎么办？
油漆呢？谁来漆？
为什么装counter的人不装back splash呢？是不一样的材料吗？还是
他不会？如果是一样的granite slab那就应该是他装。不难啊？
然后counter。一定要下面有plywood board。有的contactor偷懒直接
把counter架到cabinet上。以后会出问题。

问了一个号称有多年经验的刷墙的Painter A，说是他可以给我刷墙，但是paint
cabinet 要另外找专人，说这个不是一路活。
另外一个painter B 说如果找他刷墙的话，可以连带一起把cabinet给刷了（用喷漆）
，还不用多加钱。
这两个说的差别怎么这么大？ 漆Cabinet技术要求高吗？找 B 这样一般的Painter做有
问题吗，还是应该找专门的 Cabinet contractor 做？ |

不然装不上。个人觉得厂家提供的螺杆太细，而且没有垫片，所以我到walmart自己买
了大号的螺杆和垫片。把油烟机上的2个小点的孔钻大了（2个大的不用）。
2. 把准备好的纸板用胶带贴到cabinet下面，注意方向，别前后搞倒了。2边各放半寸
（机器只有29寸半）。用铅笔尽量垂直在cabinet下面做好标记。小空用电钻。电源线
空用2寸的孔钻。最大空要放到8村半左右.先用2寸或3村的空钻延大圆边缘钻尽量多的
孔（ pic 2).然后用hand saw锯。（因为空间限制，jigsaw没法用）。全部锯完如pic

1） 厨房的cabinet 好像最外面的一层木头peel off了。怎么fix呢？用glue粘回去？
还是有其他的方法？另外，离灶台比较近的cabinet表面有什么办法保护一下吗？主要
是油烟和heat吧。
2) 厨房的墙上预留了一个装厨房cabinet 灯的电线，但是我现在做的cabinet不能用了
，怎么把这个洞补上呢？问题是我还找到以前房主用的漆的ｃｏｄｅ，我也不能把整个
厨房都重新刷一遍。而且，我不打算在这装backsplash,因为这个cabinet离做饭的地方
很远。

332H的Blower. 说点安装的心酸过程，但愿能给准备上三代神器的一点参考。
最大的问题是管道尺寸：10inch。我家的cabinet应该是标准的吧。本以为炉子靠着外
墙好装神器，谁知道10寸的Elbow管道不可能在里面转弯。我估计8寸都够呛。一开始在
网上找了两个老美帮装。洞打好了，就是不能把Elbow接好，弄了3个下午，坏了两个10
寸的Elbow还是不行。要是洞没打，还可以让Blower离得远点，有多点空间让管道转弯
。但是洞都打了，就是在stove上面同一个cabinet里。只能用这个洞啊。后来我就让他
们走人自己接手想办法凑合，因为美国的Code太多，他们不敢乱搞。自己接手后买了两
个10-to-6的转化接头，6寸的semi-rigid duct（顺便说句，10寸的semi-rigid一是未
必能在同一个cabinet里转过弯来，二是非常难买，花了一整天跑了所有lowes-menards

另外，我发现一个好方法。我有一个杀毒软件的盒子，把内层挖下来，正好放下我的

labor secretary and wife of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, to be

发帖数: 2640 | 44 我家的vent已经有了，本以为这样就好装了，但是那个vent是个硬的铁皮管，直通
cabinet底下，就是说它和cabinet的底是一边平的。
AK2100的duct出来大概半英寸左右，还有一个白色套连接AK2100的duct和vent,这样
ak2100就不能直接放在cabinet的下面了，有大概1英寸的gap.
怎末办？是用一根小莫条封上这个gap,还是把那个vent从下边剪掉一块？
另外看了看，ak2100只有上面四个螺丝连cabinet,这样结实吗？它可重39磅呢？ |

发帖数: 9607 | 45 1.vinyl改铺瓷砖不需要把瓷砖铺到base cabinet底下吧，否则似乎挪动cabinet工程量
挺大。旧洗碗机已经拆掉扔了，会把瓷砖铺进里面的空格，炉子下面也会铺。
2.关于花岗岩台面。一种是2厘米厚度下面加plywood，一种是3厘米直接粘在base
cabinet上面。2厘米台面的边缘是4厘米厚，圆角，比较好看些。3厘米的是直角（
pencil），改圆角要多花钱。两者价格比基本是2：3。问了几家，一家说石头厚度至少
要3厘米，2厘米的是浪费钱（这家只卖3厘米的）。另一家说3厘米的下面没有木板支撑
，直接粘在空的cabinet上面不一定就比2厘米石头+木板的耐压（这家两种厚度都卖）
。我觉得2厘米的便宜又好看些（因为边上4厘米又是圆角），但是从质量角度来讲更倾
向于3厘米。请专业人士来指点一下。 |

CABINET倒是有个管子，估计是向下吸的。可问题是COOKTOP上面没有抽油烟机，这种情
况下，油烟怎么走啊？(我们的builder是把microwave build in在CABINET里的）
我家当初盖房子的时候就让BUILDER按照中国人的传统装的那种很强力的吸油烟机，所
以，COOKTOP上面损失了两个小CABINET，今天才发现，如果没有吸油烟机在COOKTOP上
，那怎么吸油烟啊。 |

了。如果装undercabinet神器那种，要截掉一块橱柜吗，直接装橱柜下面，离炉子就太

发帖数: 2795 | 48 你老公的想法是对的。试想一下国内的煤气灶台大多是两眼的，基本被抽油烟机罩着，
所以，国内的抽油烟机（像方太，帅康等品牌）效果通常是比较好的。
老美这边的灶台跟抽油烟机如果尺寸相同，那么，因为灶眼通常在四角（注：36”的灶
台有部分型号有5眼，中间有一个灶眼），无论用哪个灶眼炒菜，油烟侧漏是避免不了
的，不管抽油烟机的吸力有多大～～
如果是选用Cooktop，30”的完全可以嵌入到36“的Cabinet上去，也很难说影响美观，
因为未被Cooktop挡掉的，依然是Cabinet台面。
如果30” Cooktop安置在36“的Cabinet上，那么，Cabinet台面挖空，正常情况下在中
间部位吧（至少我家的Cooktop是安装在中间部位）？具体细节，需要请有经验的人回答～～
我家的灶台是30” Cooktop（表面是耐热陶器），抽油烟机也是30“的，初步判断：
有大约10%～15%的油烟侧漏～～ |

发帖数: 5112 | 49 我那天在图书馆里借了一本关于flooring的书，说到厨房里和洗手间换地板呢。卫生间
换的时候我看他图里是把卫生间的cabinet沿着底边切了，不把cabinet挪开，马桶给拆
下来搬走。估计是为了省事儿。
厨房装瓷砖的时候边上用字注明了：装地板之前装cabinet可以省材料的字样。。。所
以应该是可以拆可以不拆的。想拆肯定能拆，都是用螺丝钉到墙上的，就是麻烦了，尤
其是countertop，上周跟老公去看countertop，那里人说的是大理石的countertop都是
粘到cabinet上的，估计拆起来更麻烦。 |

1. Cabinet sitting on counter top will cause major maintain issue in long
run.
2. Sink is too small with kitchen of this size.
3. Kitchen fauct doesn't have flexiable pipe option will be a problem when
you wash big pot or any other large kitchen items
4. Electrical outlet should use GFIC type.
5. 2 switches around the sink seems weird.
6. Microwave seems a bit too high to access.
7. Location of the refig. is questionable. It is all the way across the
