传的短篇,还有自己写的“创作感想”。看到TRENDS那一篇,居然发现他在1938年(当
时他还在读大学)成功预测成两件事:1)1940年第二次世界大战,2)1970年,人类登
月。
两件事都只差1年而已!
我一直觉得那个SF黄金时期的创作高峰,后来者很难翻越……

一是腥。我们立刻说fishy!但老师说中文里的腥有血腥、草腥、鱼腥、人腥气——腥
其实包含着生命的标志和气息。我想起初到金华时闻到一股土腥味还是金属腥味;我妈
一向叫我狗鼻子,这么说来我这叫对生命气息高度灵敏啊。老师是非常文学的;在我看
来前两个词只要翻成smell of blood/grass就行。人腥气翻成human smell?这个的确
听起来古怪,不过“人腥气”在中文里也一样不常见吧。另外想起同样表嗅觉的花香、
饭菜香也没有确切的英文对应(fragrant太书面语;又想起aiyayayaya还聊过“馋”没
有好的翻译),英语里的嗅觉词汇不丰富噢。
二是涩。老师说最直观的例子是生香蕉的味道。几个老外学生面面相觑,只能想出一个
unripe。unripe只是客观描述词,不是表达主观味觉的词——这么看来老外的味觉也和
嗅觉一样不灵啊……开玩笑。
三是拙。老师用涩和拙来形容他认为的最高的文字境界,好文字要出拙、出涩。可怜的
王蒙被当作反面例子,他的文字圆滑、油滑、世故、漂亮,皆非上品。sleek, slick,

"attach" Stickies (Post-It notes) to certain folders. Apple's Stickies only

the object, and you dunno who should release the object unless you track it
