我的一个朋友，实际上是我在中科院读研时的同学，艺名JOE WONG，上了DAVID
LETTERMAN的LATE NIGHT SHOW。本周一录制的节目，在节目的最后５分钟。据说
RUSSELL CROWE排在他前面为自己的新片做宣传。这个星期五将播出。有兴趣的村民届
时可以在村俱乐部一起观看，呵呵。
JOE从大米大学拿的博士学位，全职工作是一名科学家，爱好是STAND-UP COMEDY，就是
JERRY SEINFELD的那种。这次被DAVID LETTERMAN采访就是作为一个STAND-UP COMEDIAN
。嗷，也不知他是不是咱村村民，：）。

的show在online comedy里确实是最受欢迎的之一。这次学校的show是传统舞台式的
standup comedy，和他们网上的形式会不太一样。
每年都有几个专业的大牌comedian来Twin Cities，非常搞笑但是票也不便宜，以后我
也多贴一点相关信息上来吧，希望能有更多的童鞋对美式comedy感兴趣。 |

the Jimmy Kimmel video and consider it somewhat funny, a bit lame but most
of part of these comedian shows are lame anyway. To some extent it reflects
the feeling and frustration of American people.

最近几天jimmy kimmel火了。我也发表一下看法。跟休斯敦的朋友们探讨一下。
首先，他确实错了。虽然对于一个comedian来说，他可以有很大的空间，但是他还是低
估了这个段子的伤害性。
那么他错了，下面怎么办？
很多人有很多看法。基本上说，只要是自己形成的看法都是有价值的。主要看法就是两
类，一类是我们民族自尊心受伤害了，要行动。另一类是这是文化差异，没人找我们中
国人的茬，签名上街游行是适得其反，破坏华人形象。这两个观点没有对错。而且出发
点是一样的，就是最大的争取华人地位，提高华人的形象。
我最近跟几位老同学辩论了一下。可以肯定，华人中要行动的是大多数。那么在辩论中
大家也蛮激动，我也对一个20多年的很敬佩的老朋友说了一句蛮重的话。我向她道歉。

and hanging out at comedy clubs, you know better how competitive this place
is in this business...
Joe is not great, not even good among most of the comedians here in Boston,
the majorities of good ones were often invited from out of state ... BUT he

基本上能吸引到观众的段子都在往色情，种族，犯罪，乱伦上面靠，健康而且好笑的段
子是越来越少了，像Jerry Seinfeld这样的大牌，因为名声太大，没法搞偏门的，所以
他的笑话本身已经没啥笑点了，大家去听Seinfeld基本都是冲着他的名声去的。而Joe
Wong的段子，基本上都比较干净，很多还绕几个弯，那是大部分教育水平不高的stand
up comedian写不出来的。因为默认的规矩是白人不能拿少数族裔讲笑话，所以几乎所
有的少数族裔的stand up comedian都利用这个‘优势’，猛拿自己的民族开涮，目前
看来Joe Wong还不需要这样。不过他作为一个外国人得身份，在政治问题上比较超脱，
可以比较轻松地开政治玩笑，这是他的优势。
他现在虽然很成功，但是我觉得可持续性不是很强，可能几年之后就难以为继，这是因为
第一，他的笑话不挑战敏感话题，很多还需要动动脑子才能想明白，比如说奥巴马看了
他的关于总统的笑话之后，就决定不来记者招待会，反而开始研究移民政策了，潜台词
就是奥巴马不喜 |

样已经非常不错了，他自己有writer的可能性不是很大吧。我在club里看到过一般的
stand up comedian，那个段子简直荤的很，从他嘴里是断然说不出来的。还有我觉得
他的发音improved了不少，应该是专门调整过了。我一直很挺他。 |

比较接受他。你不会认为我是崇拜老印吧？放松，你这个种族弦崩得有总紧。
Joe huang的套路，和russell peters，还有很多其他comedians, 甚至中国相声演员有
很大共同点： 其笑料的根本是自嘲。 joe的自嘲，虽然不象传统相声和老黑那样经常
那自己家人开生理层面的玩笑，但是他的个人形象本身是他的自嘲笑料的一部分，这就
注定了在这条根本是语言艺术的路上走不远。这个类型的相声演员，中国美国都不少，
都挣扎在二流。
如果你真的认为他是个好comedian, 不妨设想一下, 如果他身处中国，观众群是中国人
，你还会这么喜欢，这么在乎他？
所以， 说白了，你在乎的，不是Joe，而是他的观众，而是这么一件事：原来我这个背
景，这个英文水平，也可以在大庭广众之下说笑话的。
当然，这是我的个人解读，很可能完全是小人之心，象楼上批评的，缺乏自尊心的表现。
不过，如果我的解读在你心里有那么一点回应，那我给你的建议是：你不是Joe Huang.
你不必把自己和他的形象做心里暗示性的关联。 |

我非常钦佩他的成功。很了不起。
Joe Wong 机智幽默又不落俗套，在美国的娱乐界也是水平很高的。你看美国comedian
不走下三路又能逗笑的有几个?不为别的，智商不高。能拿到Ph.D的，老黄一人而已。
不世出的牛比人物。
