除了 voice $5cent/min以外，那data overage怎么算？
3. mad plan的unlimited plan里，data overage显示$15/GB，
是按per MB扣钱还是一旦data overage就直接扣$15作为deposit，
然后按实际用量再从$15刀里扣？
4. 之前的free mad plan支持voice romaing吗，支持data roaming吗？ |

因为我的cellular data 是限量的。最近才换的BLACKBERRY ，有WIFI，但是当我启动
WIFI的时候，不能单独启动，需要TURN ON 手机的DATA才行，我的DATA是每月200MB，
当我用WIFI的时候（同时打开DATA)是不是也要消耗我的DATA USAGE啊？

data scientist也可称为data analyst 一般来讲 做的工作比较墨守成规 读个统计
master便可胜任
data scientist是个新兴的名称 有个scientist压着 听起来比analyst高级的多 做的
事情也复杂些 而且需要一个人有创新能力设计能力 从建立模型开始 到产品能最终被
大家所应用结束 一般需要phd的学历 |

computation - 包括parallel computation, Hadoop 和研究型的应用方向Data Mining
and Machine Learning - 包括Pattern recognition, Prediction. 还有
一些数据处理过程比如data cleaning, data visualization.
现在好像很多企业都需要做Data Scientist的人，跟Hadoop，.Net一起做Web service
。想往这个方向发展，感觉做研究型的应用方向应该越做越吃香，不容易被新技术淘汰
。但不知道这个方向能走多久，以后的薪酬如何。本人菜鸟级，对big data只略知一二
。各位大牛有何高见？ |

研究方向是database, publication还不错，对研究也比较有兴趣。看来看去，感觉目
前data mining和我的研究方向还比较接近，貌似data mining 和 big data也比较火。
想请教一下，如果自己修一些data mining的课程，自学一些相关技术比如hardoop，转
行到大公司的R&D 做data scientist的机会大么？学习过程中有什么需要注意的地方？
我看好些找data scientist的广告都要求有相关工作或者研究经验，像我这种教书背景
，又没有相关的publication,是不是特别难？

反正好的IT公司的非码农、白领、偏商科职位，竞争都非常惨烈。待遇好大家都看着的
。而估计20个码农职位里就有一个这种职位。而相关专业毕业生数量绝对远高于计算机
系二十分之一。还有我感觉商科女特别想挤破头进IT公司里这种职位，你也懂的。
比如marketing，我见到的一些team全是找的top 5的MBA去做。我有top MBA的朋友说他
们全班一个专业方向大部分最想去的就是某个top tier IT公司的Marketing，而那个职
位每年只招一个。所以如果是偏商科那种Data Analyst，这种职位的竞争情况可以类推。
而且技能方面，Data Analyst还跟公司最不缺的码农的理工技能有交叉，处境也比较尴
尬。如果偏商科背景，那么面临和顶级的商学院MBA竞争。如果脱离商科背景，简单纯
数据的data analyst很多事情理工背景强的码农可以做，甚至可以更专业的做。
如果是需要更强的学术背景去解决一些数据分析问题，比如分析用户行为，那么IT公司

1. java offer：
本地小公司(100来人），纯java, 起薪很低（<60k), 每天需要高速单程一个小时，
公司福利只能说是一般。公司人还不错，离家不算太远，每天能见到孩子 （5岁小孩）。
2. big data offer:
直接说名字吧，Accenture的big data / NoSQL developer职位， 地点在北加。现
在给的offer是 82k base, 3k relocation， 福利好像是标准的， offer的内容还没具
体谈，根据我的背景和经验，变动的幅度不大。
我只懂一些hadoop的基础，没有任何machine learning, statistics方面的知识，
很担心如果进入这行，特别是在accenture里，能不能存活下来。 另外，accenture这

这是人类认知的第一步，现在就在教电脑怎么认知这个世界
然后电脑才能想办法思考，人如果没有文字这些就无法思考
所以这个叫做ml
big data最大的问题在于数据的无规则化
而无规则的数据要从中找出相似的是非常有挑战性的
这就需要用到数学和各种统计了
这个才是big data进而ml那些东东
当然这个有些偏理论化了，应用的话，可以直接用来预测
比如搜索引擎预测哪些文件是你需要的
但是预测这个，其实不是big data真正关心的
在data warehousing时代就有这些东西了
包括什么etl这些，其实都是数据仓库的东东
十年前就有了，跟现在搞的这些不完全是一回事
当然他们也说自己搞的是big data就是了
毕竟是buzz words嘛，写在resume上也好看点 |

诚心请教大data set到底该怎么分析？今天面试的一个问题，说是有一个data set要分
析，有100 million个observations，200 thousand个covariates，公司不用SAS，只用
R和Python，但这么大的data set R 完全handle不了，问我该怎么办？用C？我会C。好
象版上以前有讨论过大data set，但好象一般学校的phd program 都没这方面的
project（whatever,我胡说的，反正我们学校是这样，不知道其他学校怎么样？），今
天终于让我碰上了。大家知道这方面一般都怎么办？有什么常规方法？或是有什么实用
的参考书吗？还有如果用C的话，我一般就用 dev c++ IDE，或是用linux gcc，请问这

标 题: 在att升级手机和data plan的问题

我现在用的non-smart phone，在att的帐号有个promotion可以升级手机和data plan的
deal，05/15就过期了，但是我5到6月底都不在美国。
如果我现在网上升级，这个data plan是自动的加上我的帐号，而且马上就生效吗？
还是要等我激活了新的smart phone，才能加上data plan，然后才charge我data plan
的钱。如果是后一种情况的话，我想先把这个deal用了，然后等我6月底回来再active
smart phone和加上data plan。
打了customer service的电话，两个人给了两种答案，都糊涂了，版上有类似的经验吗
