yesterday. Apparently, Beijing wants to ease the N-S korea tension
dramatically before President Hu's state visit to US scheduled in the next
January.
For this purpose, Beijing has to compromise on various issues (e.g., RMB

Peace Prize ceremony for Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo, the Norwegian Nobel
Committee has said. Two more countries, Sri Lanka and Algeria, had not

agenda in picking up Liu. The problem is that it picked a wrong person. Many
Chinese dissidents are more qualified than Liu, and many have done great
deal to help the poor people and the society.

An appeals court upheld the seven-year prison sentence for the dissident son
of one of Vietnam's founding revolutionaries Tuesday, despite arguments
that his support for a multiparty system did not mean he was against the
Communist Party.
Cu Huy Ha Vu, a human rights lawyer educated in France, said he was innocent
of charges including spreading propaganda against the state and called the
case against him a conspiracy.
