Gate is highly recommended. After drive across Golden Gate remember to
drive up the hill and see the gate from above the hill. It is so beautiful
there. If you get time I'd recommend the small town Sausalito right below
Golden Gate bridge, on the north end of the bridge. It is a nice and decent
town, good for a lunch (no chinese food though).

若是, 也是一个挺popular的品种, 果实挺大的, 味道也好.
唯一的问题是, Elephant Heart需要异花传粉才会结的多. 若你的今年还结得极少, 冬
天就得嫁接. 处处都是的Santa Rosa正好可以与它传粉. |

Elephant这部影片是Gus Van Sant根据1999年震惊世界的美国哥伦拜恩中
学校园枪击案改编。片长大概是一个小时18分钟，里面更多的只是在讲这个案件
发生前和发生后大概半个小时吧（个人估计而已）。大多采用近焦跟拍来描述案
件前几个人的生活状态，分为John，Elias，Jordan，Nicole，Brittany，
Michelle，Benny，Nathan ，Nate ，Carrie，Alex ，等等几个人来说。而
他们的关系结构就是象Tarantino的《Pulp Fiction》那样进行时空关联切换了
。唯一一条主线就是Alex在校园（应该总是）受到人的欺负而跟另一个人Eric通
过网络买枪到校园杀人。
好，回到elephant这个来说，有人说过：这个象就是盲人摸象的象。对于盲
人，要想摸清一只大象，那是很难的，虽然这只象客观存在，但给他们的一些表
象也只能是大象的一部分，而其他的部分就等他们去想象。当然如果很多盲人所
摸到的部分凑起来，那可能就是一只相对完整的大象，当然仅仅是相对可能而
已，因为还有其他主观的因素，比如信息的传递中，由于主观因 |

Mo Willems从2003的开始创作Pigeon系列,获奖无数。
Elephant and Piggie是Mo Willems 这两年开始创作的一个新的系列，如果你逛Barnes
& Noble书店的children's section，一定能见到很多。每一本都很funny,用词很简单
，六岁的小孩就可以自己读。是我家大宝的favorite author。(well, i think that
may be the only author he knows though...)
Mo Willems 毕业于NYU Tisch School of Arts, 毕业后花了一年周游世界，每天都画
一幅漫画。他的职业生涯从芝麻街开始，编画写故事。2003年Mo Willems的女儿出生，
他便辞职在家做全职奶爸陪女儿，也开始自己创作童书。好理想的人生！

的，但是没能继续下来。myelsa提供了大量的有关摩门教的知识，算是填补了本版宗教
信仰知识上的一个空白。可惜是转载居多，如果能够有更多的原创的话就更能填补本版
空白了，也更能引起大家的兴趣。
本人个人想倡导的方向统统失败。想让大家分享一下自己的信仰思想搞了一个This I
believe的活动，没人捧场。不过这也怨不得别人，我自己都偷懒，要交稿的自己的故
事还放在桌面上只写了一半。现在的置顶还放在那里一方面是我认为这仍然是这个版需

不是说不可以讨论，只是说，这绝不是最底层的问题。应该是个随着知识增长要持续
evaluate地一个问题。
这确实是一个big elephant in the room，不可能忽视，但我们可能是以蚂蚁的角度去
评论elephant。
基本上都认为佛陀是觉悟者、解脱者，但这又出来很多问题，什么叫觉悟？什么叫解脱？
有人会说，佛祖是从凡人悟到解脱之道的智者；
有人会说，佛祖久远前就已经解脱，此世因缘具足，化身示现，授万世之法，证涅磐境；
......
你另外再加上个什么佛有没有情志、有没有缺点这些问题，就好像问一堆蚂蚁，你们觉
得那头大象背上有几个虱子一样...
当然，这些问题，也不是经典中无迹可寻的，只不过，开口就可能又是悖论...
佛安住于胜义谛中说法，所以用世俗的情志、善恶、优缺点描述佛就很不适合...

this week, the Apple CEO took on all comers, smack-talking Google,
BlackBerry, and practically anyone else who dared do battle with his
precious iPhone and iPad.
All in all, it was a pretty impressive display, and it was enough to get
executives at Google, RIM, and TweetDeck all up in his grill. But how does

题的工具就是好工具！
我个人其实不属于这三帮人中的任何一个。
面向对象编程（Object-Oriented Programming）
如果你看透了表面现象就会发现，其实“面向对象编程”本身没有引入很多新东西。所
谓“面向对象语言”，其实就是经典的“过程式语言”（比如Pascal），加上一点点抽
象能力。所谓“类”和“对象”，基本是过程式语言里面的记录（record，或者叫结构
，structure），它的本质就是一个从名字到数据的“映射表”（map）。你可以用名字
从这个表里面提取相应的数据。比如point.x，就是用名字'x'从记录point里面提取相
应的数据。这比起数组来是一件很方便的事情，因为你不需要记住存放数据的下标。即
使你插入了新的数据成员，仍然可以用原来的名字来访问已有的数据，而不用担心下标
错位的问题。

话说WS人开车逛完了第一圈，同一张票还可以逛第二圈，这是逛第二圈时看到的。
一路开车正盘算着要找最精彩的看，隐隐哟哟听见有啥声音在小山谷里回荡，四处张望
一番,看到了这个：
用狗头拉近点就是这个
悲观人的第一反应就是：不好，有人在做坏事？紧走两步,正好前面有个Volunteer 字
样的车，就停下来问咋回事。坐在车里的一位慈祥大爷说：这只长颈鹿有风湿病，工作
人员要把它弄回elephant barn 好躺下来休息，它不愿意回去，喜欢在外面晒太阳。还
有一个原因是这只被另一只欺负，尽管两只一样大，但那只没有病。
开车近了一点这时俺才注意到另一只，
远远看俩只大小差不多，除了健康的那只颜色好像鲜艳一点。
同时工作人员的声音也听得更清楚了： Go， Go， Come on,，还不是向它喷点小水，
就在不断的吆喝中，健康的那只已经走到前面去了
健康的树下小歇一下吃几口叶子
后面那只也在工作人员驱逐下渐渐跟上
妈妈的好孩子已经开始下山了，
有病的那只还在沿着山上铁栏走，不肯下山，又被好一阵吆喝，喷水

看了一部纪录片，介绍了四个世界著名的化石坑，那里有着保存很完整的各种动植物化
石，这些化石使得我们对史前生态的重要阶段得以进行详细的分析了解，包括他们的外
观，内部构造，饮食习惯，社会生活等等。我看片子的时候做了些记录，上网查了查，
又存了些截屏图片，写个总结，也不知道符不符合征文的规定。如有错误疏忽遗漏或不
妥请指正。
(一) 伯吉斯页岩（Burgess Shale Formation），约五亿三千万年前
一九零九年，美国地质学家查尔斯•都利特•沃尔科特（Charles
Doolittle Walcott）在加拿大的洛基山脉进行野外探查，由于马摔跤无意间找到了一
块化石，随后他发现只有七英尺厚的伯吉斯页岩夹层是所有化石的出处。随后的两年内
，沃尔科特和他的儿子们共收集了六万一千多个样本，在所有发现中有三分之二是科学
新发现，包括以前从未有过的保存完整的软体动物化石。伯吉斯页岩的生物群种类相当
多，有食泥动物，滤食动物和掠食动物。沃尔科特直到一九二七年去世都在研究这些化
石，值得钦佩。
