I was first interviewed with a somewhat Lab (not MSR) in MS. My experience was
not very happy. I met both MSR people and Lab people. Honestly they are quite
different. MSR people are good and kind as what I expected (I interned with
MSR twice), but the somewhat Lab is kind of ridiculous. They seem to looking
for a research position, but never did ask you about your research, or a
technical talk (other 4 interviews had 1 hour talk) |

In the morning at 9:00am I walked in the building and met the front desk who
introduced me to the first interviewer. Actually he did not ask me any
interview questions but gave me a detailed demo of their production for
about 45 minutes. I talked with him in the conference room and discussed

1。3年与5年的差距应该比1年与3年的差距小。你若有2～3年，就处于不错的位置了，
关键要看你在工作那几年里有什么成就，具体的例子能举出来不。
2。公司写5年是 ideal candidate 的描述。市场上与他们要求完全吻合的也不一定有
多少，他们会酌情考虑下调要求。但广告里也写理想的。
3。学校的经验可以算。有的广告（起码我服装行业）是4年本科或5年行业经验。不过
我体会4年本科《 5年经验
4。 cover letter 一定要写好，给人好印象。即使你不达到硬性指标，也有让人想试
试你的愿望。我就在 cover letter 里给了多条理由，让要求3年工作经验（我只有半
年实习经验）的猎头联系我。
5。experience w/ tools 没有指非工作后的经验不可。但是如果 w/ 后面的内容是学
校里很难接触到的，就难说服对方了。

纠结我的工作经验年限已经俩星期了。。(3 years for the position I applied)
PhD 时间居然只算RA 的pay的时间，TA 的不算。我的PhD 5年下来只值他们的2年不到
experience, 把我原来国内的工作经验七七八八加起来，现在勉强够3年。
不过他们的hiring mgr 还算帮忙，一直耐心的算来算去，表达对我的强烈兴趣。
但是他们很明确的强调 所有经验需要原单位的证明信。他们现在签offer倒不需要,但
是说将来办H1B
什么的，需要。
我的问题是 我在上海工作过半年的一家小公司(7,8年以前了)都找不到人可以联系了。
公司可能都已经
不在了。。给原来的同事发了信，目前也没有回（也许大家用不同的信箱了）。我记不
清楚是不是签过
合约的，如果有，也应该找不到了（若干年间搬了无数次家）。早年没有备份的概念。。
所以请教大家该如何应对呢？

计界面、网站的应用程序。
看大家都申请SDE职位，请问有申请类似Information Architect, user Interaction/
experience (（UX) design职位的吗？是不是consulting？如果申请，一般要求什么，
想自己学习一下，看几本书，从理论上先补习一下。

一个公司，title换了3次，city换了2次,工作的team也换了2次：
2005-2006 Co-op A City Team X
Worked on XXX project
2006-2008 SW Engineer B City Team Y
Worked on YYY project
2008-2009 Sr. SW Engineer B City Team Y
Worked on YYY project
如果把experience这么一一列出来，简历会变成1页半，而且在team Y里做
的都是一样的工作，除了title不同。
请问在简历里是不是把这同一个公司的都这么一一的列出来呢？这样就很难
把内容压缩到一页了。
能否这么写呢？
2005-2009 Sr. SW Engineer B City Team Y
Worked on XXX project
Worked on YYY project
担心的是如果想上面这么写，以后back |

I did my homework before interview by studying the job description and my
resume.
And he make it clear that he will give me chunk of time to sell myself.
Therefore, I cover my experience with concise language according to the
requirements of job description.
On the other hand, I'm listening to his reaction. He didn't show any
intention to switch topics or annoying. Therefore, I assume he will like to
understand my expereince better.
So I think it really depends on who is your future manager |

Interviewee started with no greeting and no introduction about the
himself/team/company.
Coding questions are very simple. But just ask me to read loud about my code
over the phone, and don't want any explanation.
He really doesn't care how I think the problems. He even told me directly I
haven't read your resume.
Ending without taking any questions.
Is that rude? Or I am just being too picky. Does a company train their

户调研，他们叫做twin role；不过对于一些大公司比如微软，这两个就分的很细（微

对有artistics，工艺美术设计，graphic designer背景的，工作本身侧重于硬件软件
产品界面的设计，比如色彩，字
体，transparency等的使用。ux researcher（这里的researcher并不是常规意义上的
research scientist）则偏向于调
查了解用户需求，产生产品初期，中期的user requirements，确保产品的feature满足
用户需求；产品后期则可能需要
做很多的用户测试，包括多种用户测试的方法。但微软的user researcher参与产品设
计的并不多，尤其在传统division
比如windows。在incubation项目中，他们也有twin role的UX people。

company with a market cap only half of Microsoft but more employees. Intel's bonus is usually great.
If you look for RSU only, try Xilinx/Altera. They have much more to leverage
in the stock front. They can offer >40k$ RSU per 4 years for PhD with 1
year experience. In your case it should be more lucrative. |

前两个字我感觉面的很好，三道题全部作出而且code出
lunch 后，一啊三上来就问了很多search方面的问题，咱不是search 出身，tail
query的东西，你product里面没这个东西，问你怎么办？说了categorization based的
query，人说你不能categorize这个query，因为是tail的query，按说那你metropolis
explore，然后再用machine learning 的model来learn，人说你没有enough的data 来
learn，最后才明白人家就是需要你去call twitter的feed来发现是不是有和这个query
有关的twitter，当然中间谈到了用wiki，wiki有information太多的问题。
接着问click的confidence 问题，按说binomial的distribution，算了expectation=np
，人家最后要的是 P(1-P)/N,这个他妈确实不知道，
然后呀出去，就是recruiter进来说你wrap up了，我糙啊，才他妈三个人就wrap你吗up
