现代汉语里存在着很多翻译得不够合理的外来名词。其中多数是对西方词汇的本意理
解略有偏差，尚非存在着致命的缺陷。但也确有个别外文名词——而且是常用名词的汉
语翻译与其外文本意南辕北辙，只因早已约定俗成，竟然积非成是，以至于流毒后来。
其中影响最大，为祸最甚者，当数“民主”与“共和”两词，真可谓指鹿为马。笔者不
敢不辩，以正视听。
现代汉语中通常所说的“民主”指英文中的“democracy”，“共和”则指英文中
的“republic”。据西方的说法，“Democracy”源自古希腊人所用的古希腊语，而“
republic”则源自古罗马人所使用的拉丁语，正所谓“没有希腊就没有民主，没有罗马
就没有共和”。

2）大银行买了这些bonds之后，高价卖给Federal Reserve;
3）Fed 写张大check给大银行（给cash或credit - "印钱”)；

当然，每卖出一批bond，国家的债就增加，（目前美国欠债数字是17万亿）
5）可是，借了债，美国政府必须还，连利息带本金。钱从哪来？从IRS的税收来。
可是现在经济不好，收的税入不敷出。怎么办？
要刺激经济，要用钱，怎么办？
要打仗，要用钱，怎么办？
唯一的办法是回到step 1）
可是，老是这样干（事实上已经干了无数次了），很快，国会立法的debt limit 就超
过了。
而超过了法律上借债的上限就不能回到step 1）了。
