1) The major business for oil companies are exploration, drilling, welling,
etc. Most of these companies bought software from oil service companies
instead of hiring cs guy to build it.They might have database,
infrastructure team, but those are support or maintenance job.
2) From r&d perspective, they are likely to hire geoscience/geophysics
background.
Instead of spending time on learning geoscience, you could have a better
career in IT industry by the same amount of effort.

跟隔壁比较起来。背景很弱。德国不错的研究所PHD.方向是Graph theory. 导师是做
Bioinf的。头两年没定方向的时候学了很多乱七八糟的课。比如machine learning and
statistics，signal processing等等。也跟着做了些小项目，主要跟biology
network analysis 有关。没有公司实习经历。没有teaching的经历。后来做的比较理
论，虽然方向也跟computational complexity有关，但是也没有自己开发过算法。
在做项目过程中接触过不少programming，比较Matlab, Perl, python, R, shell
script.但是都是临时学学用用而已。
博士一直晃晃悠悠的享受生活，估计9月最晚10月就答辩了。最近才开始找工作。博
后合适的位置很少。联系方向相近的教授，只说可以去访问，但是都没有博后位置。
不是非学术不可的人，但是也喜欢学术界的自由。如果能找到学术界的工作也愿意做

trading companies. IT got paid lower than geology/geophysics majors :(.

多数是因为人力，copy思想再加上一点点数据花招，我们领域有专门做实验的，有专门
推导数学理论的，偏数学的基本看不见中国大陆的，世界各地学者能做偏数学研究的多
地去了，唯独大陆很弱，所以我觉得国内其实数学一点都不强，只是折腾小孩比较起劲
；比如我常看的这些杂志都是各自领域第一第二

现在经常出现以下状况，不知道是系统问题还是硬件有毛病，望高手指教
开机启动后，进入用户名输入密码阶段，还没来得及输入密码，就立马又自动重启，然
后进入选择启动模式阶段（安全模式还是其他），我选择normal start，然后机器就能
正常启动，之后输密码，进入桌面就都正常了。
也不是每次都这样，但以上还是出现的很频繁，咋回事？ |

我们学校的geophysics每年都向石油公司输出不少人，他们专业的学生对计算机这块还
都比较懂，更有的美国学生的计算机能力比我们cs的都强，我和他们一起上课都能感觉到
石油行业的it部门主要搞高性能计算之类的，而且涉及很多专业术语，没有几年的知识
积累，根本干不来 |
