最近有个FDA offer, 单位离家不远，每星期也只需要去office一次就行。但是工资低
不少，比原来少20K。所以很纠结。而且不做human trials了。Government好像很看PhD
,所以担心以后Step升得慢，在一大群PhD挺难受。感觉去就是为了养老了。

从PRC国庆到US鬼节
1989年10月1日前夕，上海市府举办招待酒会，庆祝PRC 建国40周年。来宾中有美
国驻上海总领事。原上海复旦大学校长谢希德，在招待酒会上主动问美国总领事“我们
要作甚麽事，才能解决方励之问题？”。大使立即将谢的举动转告我们。
我们判断:“这是邓小平发出的信号，中共想要解决问题了。” 大使也持同样看法。
谢希德的学术身份，是一位物理学教授，专长于点群空间群在固体物理中的应用。
谢的政治身份，是中共中央委员。谢是从美国回归者。八十年代，她每年至少到美国一
次，代表中国物理学会参加美国物理学会年会。谢认识李和我。早在1950年代后期，谢
一度从上海来北大物理系工作，协助黄昆建立半导体研究班子，直到这时，谢才入党。
当时李淑娴也在黄昆的班子中，是一位援华的苏联半导体副教授的专业翻译。谢行事极
为谨慎，作风更像虔诚基督徒。谢不会自作主张向美国总领事询问“方励之问题”，一
定是高层授意的。
