还是sac买的, 170的板长, 号称适合重量155-175lbs, 对我来说比较合适, 如果负重,
也许有些短.
板子参数: 126/93/114, 典型的powder ski, 看他自己的描述和网上的评论, 在powder
和crud上表现良好, 非常稳定, 在firm snow上也一样可以carve, 估计在icy的雪面上
没戏.
这款ski既可以做AT ski,也可以用于telemark, 换不同的binding就行了. 一副ski重
8lbs左右. 加上binding和boots, 又是20多磅了, 还是轻不了.
这款ski的另一个特色就是表面的图案很花, 像是涂鸦, 被很多人误以为是park里用的,
记得以前在ski版上还和别人辩论过ski表面的涂鸦问题, 这算是一个很好的佐证了.
现在boots有了, ski有了, 接下来搞个binding和skins, 俺的 AT ski计划就算是完成
了, 整个package 成本控制在1k以内 |

* 分类
从场地分，主要有三种:
In-bound (滑雪场)
Crosscountry (地势起伏不大的野外)
Backcountry (地势起伏较大的山)
从器械分，至少有以下几种：
Downhill ski
AT ski
Snowboard
Splitboard
Telemark ski
XC ski
Downhill ski/snowboard主要在雪场内滑，AT/Telemark/Splitboard都是backcountry。

Avalanche rarely happened on Mt.Whitney, so if you are not climbing
immediately after a major storm, or going up on an unreasonable warm day, it
should be fine.
Rope up or not, it depends on snow condition and team members' ability. If
the snow on the last chute becomes icy, definitely you want to protect (not
only rope up, you could also need running belay, protecting with snow picket

Plan to take MR. I think our party has little experience about using rope in
snow/ice environment and rope team so probably it is a better choice not to
bring the rope and proceed with care, turn back if condition is too icy.

上一次去最后那一两mile平地走得人差点就崩溃了，endless & hopeless。这次征得
lead同意，背上了ski。好在leader领导下的pace本身比较慢，跟上没什么问题。
把ski扔在Devil's kitchen，然后从chute爬上去登顶。很严重的traffic jam，有一组
guide service的有十几人，这些人很mean，不让我们用他设好的picket，说什么“
This is my picket!"， WTF. 下去的时候在顶上等他们先下，他们一个一个地从上面
belay下去，花了无穷多时间。我们在寒风中雪地上坐了一个小时，人都快冻僵了，幸
好还有太阳。
等穿上ski也不是很爽，雪况很不好，icy & bumpy，加上第一次不认路，滑得也慢.
好不容易挣扎到ski resort lift area才爽了一把，比其他人提前一个多小时，趁机在
车里睡了一觉。
难怪背ski的人上山都比较晚，不用alpine start，都等着太阳出来多晒一会儿呢。 |

ice. We put crampons on, used one ice axe and one ice tool, and started to
traverse to the summit pinnacle. Most of time, we simply roped up. On some
steep and icy sections, I placed pickets to protect running belay. I fell
once but stopped falling immediately using ice tool (The ice tool was really
helpful in this condition). Right below the summit pinnacle, we met another

when I started skiing around 13:30, the snow on the face was not that icy

SPRING PASS 才$80, 雪况还要好. COLORADO的DEAL也比较多.
要滑雪还得去西部, 本地就用高山和越野滑树林就成了. MOGUL这里的很ICY. |

最近要毕业了，同学拉我一起自驾游，计划是横贯美国，行程大约25天左右。
我挺想去的，因为一路会经过不少好玩的城市，而且以后也不知道会不会有时间横贯美
国了。
但是顾虑也不少--
1.25天的时间很长的，现在工作还没定，有点儿犹豫花这么多时间在玩儿上面。还没有
offer，我是不是应该把精力放在找工作上呢？
2.我是女生，这期间25天里肯定会遇到生理期，冬天这么寒冷，我有点担心体力，还有
心情
3.交通安全。如果去的话，第一次那么长的时间出门在外，我觉得有点risky。目前打
算去的地方有大峡谷，黄石公园，芝加哥等等，不知道路上会不会安全？下雪会不会影
响司机的判断力？
希望大家能帮我分析分析，我有点儿拿不定主意。先谢谢大家了～

坡陡或者icy的话，有break也停不住
去年我在Hood的冰坡上，被一块冰卡住了ski，然后ski就脱落了，另一只ski也跟着脱落
，两只ski一直滑了500多尺，到了缓坡才停住，我的是带break的。
如果用leash，这种情况下ski就不会掉那么远
不过，用leash也有坏处，遇上雪崩之类当你想把ski脱掉的紧急时候，leash就成了阻碍 |

Note - Petrified forest NP, 里面是几乎遍地都是crystals, 公园里的最大损失是平
均一个月１吨的crystals被游客给拿走。请大家不要做这样的游客。
到此，开了近１２００迈。我的neck,back和hand已经疼的不行（有些旧伤），从此换
老公开。
建议大家从北进 （Painted Desert Visitor Center)，南出 (Rainbow Forest Museum
). 这样你会appreciate petrified forest fosile a lot more. :)
我们自然是在所有的stops都停了，也走了trail. Painted Desert,很美，尤其是有雪
的样子。不过，我们俩都认为John Day的Painted Hills更好看。(FYI, John Day NM
is in Central Oregon).
路上也有几个印第安人的遗址。这的印第安人自然是取天用天了：petrified wood
fosile和clay.

in high wind, near zero visibility and snow storm liked condition. Tried to
dig a snow cave to wait it out but it was too icy 2-3 feet down. Cold and
miserable, waiting without a snow cave means certain death. So we kept on
moving guided by GPS and my faint memory of the descent route. Managed to
get off Liberty Cap and reach to 13.6k col between the cap and Columbia
Crest.

凌晨一点被一阵山崩地裂般的闹铃声给吼醒了，Ervin估计怕跟昨天一样又睡过了，铃
声调的那个响啊，可怜宿舍里其他不用早起的了... 简单收拾了东西，到餐厅吃早饭。
餐厅的一个角落里还睡了好些人，估计是没订到床位的。欧洲的mountain hut这点还是
蛮好的，无论有没有预定、还有没有空位，总不会让投宿的人无家可归。早饭是真少，
拼起来还没有一片面包大，好在事先知道，自己准备了点吃的。快两点的时候正式出发
，这里的海拔还不算太高，屋外倒是一点也不冷。Ervin全程short rope我们，不过他
的手里留了很长一段绳子，所以如果fall了，他放开绳子、我们之间还是可以有一段很
长的缓冲。一小段穿过Tete Rousse冰川的路后，来到了Aiguille du Gouter的脚下。

，雪崩风险预报4000ft以下是moderate，往上南面就是considerable了；Chutla最顶上
有一段还比较陡的向南的open slope，不过Tord觉得问题不大。其他人都没有带beacon
，我也只好把我的留在车里了。说好7点在longmire集合，纠结了两天，还是没勇气冰
天雪地的睡trailhead，星期六早上4点半爬起来carpool去的，几乎睡了一路，真困啊
。第一次碰到有人迟到了将近20分钟，Tord很好脾气的等；那个家伙get ready也特别
的慢，用了差不多半个小时，最后快8点才出发的，真是白起那么早了。从桥上过了
Tahoma creek之后，就是trailhead。大部分溪水都冻住了，上面盖着层薄薄的雪。太
阳正打在Rainier的山顶上，照的偌大的山体一道暗一道亮的。
沿着树林里的trail一路zig-zag的往上走，出发没多久就要穿snowshoe了；trail显然

发帖数: 379 | 50 My first glacier lead! 3天的行程，走之前在noaa上查天气，预报一直到星期三都是
好天气，决定尽可能pack light，用bivy，所有的rain gear都不带，终于把包括3升水
和所有食物在内的个人物品控制在了20lb以下。到trailhead以后，每个人都要过来摸
摸我的包，说好cute啊，你确定没有忘带东西>.< 不过Ed跟我说，他每次都会多背不少
东西，衣服啊什么的，防止有basic student带的东西不够，真是好人。我们星期五下
午3点半从西雅图出发，本来是想赶在traffic前面的，没想到还是低估了大家出游的热
情，龟行了快两个小时才能真正开起来。Trailhead有个可以生火做饭的营地，烤了点
玉米和牛排当晚饭。
Ed的计划是每天早走早歇，避开下午的烈日。我们本来计划5点半出发，有两个人开始
没找对地方，耽搁了一点时间，快六点才正式上路。开始的5.5 miles是树林里的小路
，起起伏伏的，走的很舒服。Shelter是第一个可以补水的地方，过了之后就是zig-zag
