Job 1:8; 2:3): he is blameless and upright (a phrase also used in reference
to Noah in Gen. 6:9 and to Abraham in Gen. 17:1)...

Fowler
回信称赞:

as nearly all foreigners’ letters do by some trifling lapse in idiom, that

I had the same situation with you some years ago. But in Embassy no
body asked me why you quitted and went to USA. In USA, nobody cares
about your
history.
There is a Chinese idiom:
The bare people are too full to die,
while the timid ones starve.

你们有没有象我一样有时侯会突然听不懂老美在说啥?
其实每个词都懂,但是就是不明白整句话是啥意思,就是所谓的slang吧.
我上周买了一本书
Scholastic Dictionary Of Idioms
希望能加强和老美的沟通, 打算学学很多课本上学不到,其实又很有用的一些日常用语.
目前在读这本书,感觉不错.

其实这类书很多, 我随便挑的,据说是他们写给小孩看的,写的很容易懂.hehe
下面是其他一些类似的书:
