该HOFer年轻时参加了有记录的最长的一场职业棒球赛，大约是3A吧
严寒之下打了30多个inning，Bullpen已经捡碎棒子烧火了
打到后半夜两三点观众还剩四五个的时候有人送了最新版本的规则给裁判说可以中止比
赛，于是就中止了。最后的结果是：
几个月之后另找一天用了几十分钟完成比赛，当场败投在比赛开始时还不在队上
比赛中止时留在场上的球迷被授予该小联盟球场终身入场资格
那场的参赛人员里面是出了两个HOFer或者两个很牛的 |

his little league play off, my big son's team had an uncharacteristic day
in the Majors playoff. Their ace pitcher surrendered 10 runs in 4 1/3 of

What it means is when they both play again on Thursday, June 6th, they both
need to win to survive: a loss would mean elimination.

The long and hard battle never materialized. CC's team won on just 3 1/2
innings, 15:3, on the 10-run mercy rule (after 4 innings, if a team has 10

搞咂了两个dp ball，我们进了5个。我们第七个inning本来2 out的时候你们的球员看
上去swing and miss strikeout inning over，结果v-tek pass ball，接下来你们连
续打了三四个，又领先了。后来的你就看到了。。。

熟悉的这批当代牛投们了。。。SI曾评选过一个MLB在00-09年间的all-decade team，
结果深与我心有戚戚焉--五位rotation投手就是我上一章写过的那三位大牛Pedro，
Johnson，Schilling，再加上新生代的两位翘楚Halladay & Santana。的确，如果要写
这个世纪以来最好的投手们，我心里大概有一个六七个人的名单，其中Doc本来就是排
在第一位的，他是我心目中这个时代的顶尖投手的代表，是ace of the aces，而现在
他的去世更坚定了我要用专门的一章来dedicate给他的想法，就像其他爱他的人用
youtube上的tribute videos来纪念他一样，希望能够向这位在我熟悉棒球的年代最稳
定最有统治力最优秀的投手致以一份深深的景仰和敬意(当然，还有无尽的惋惜与伤痛)。

没想到被堵在球场附近, 在电台里听了第一个inning, 还好没得分.
进场后, 恰好看到互相下分, 特别是小日本的2 run home run.
之后主队球迷高呼Matsui MVP! 之后比赛趋于平淡, 双方球迷互相
叫喊攻击攻击对方. sigh... 上赛季去看还叫1918, 今年不能叫了
只好叫86, 26之类的了. 美国人的加油方式比较单调, 一方叫
Let's go Redsox. 另一方就叫Let's go Yankees.来压过对方, 连
这几个词的调子全都一样.
我们坐在了bleachers那边, 本来想没准接个hume run, 结果全场四个
HR全从右边柱子旁飞出来的, 离我们N远． 这个位置唯一好的地方就
是离pitcher warm up的地方近． 当第8个inning上结束的时候，偶
鼓动phoeba同学下去给准备开始活动的rivera照相，幸好下手早，占
了个好的位置，不一会儿已经一群人举着相机手机到看台边上去照他了．

sox大比分领先第八个inning了，很多人就走了。我们后来是在home dugout后面看得
papelbon的第九个inning，也算补偿了一下。汗。
不过很郁闷的一次是去年看lester对marlins，第六还是第七个inning雨越来越大之后
就cancel比赛了。。。。看运气阿 |

the pitch stuck out Holiday in the 2nd inning was wayyyyy inside
such calls in early innings were enough to change the game
as the batters had to swing on those inside "balls" and got struk out
in later innings
this is not as obvious as the missed call on Saturday in terms of changing
the game, but the consequence is about the same. |

about 200 innings. per inning wise, closers are paid a lot.
I think closers are paid for this mental ability as well as pitching
ability. and pitching is secondary. that is why they get paid so

My little son (10 yrs) used to play soccer (he still does), but he joined
little league this year under the influence of his big brother (12 yrs), who
has played baseball for 5th year and still going.
Today they played a playoff game for the season. They lost their previous
one and are facing elimination (double elimination format).
In the top of 1st, he played 1st base, and caught a sharp liner to end the
inning, leaving a couple of runners on base.
