第二天还有感觉.Knee strap是不是只要绑在疼的膝盖上?有点怕,纠正不了running
form.

if the pain is from the outer side of your knee, it's probably IT band; if
it's right underneath your knee cap -- use your thumb to press it gently and
see if it hurts, then it's more likely runner's knee.
do you run 7 days/wk? if so, consider 1-2 day off each week.

you actually have a fantastic start!
i also started with bad knees. my experience is that it's worth to convert
from heel striker to mid-foot/fore-foot striker to spare your knees. it took
me over 2 years, and now i accustomed to land on mid-foot.
along the way, you shift some stress from your knees to your foot, ankle and
calf. so be prepared that your calf may get sore and your foot/ankle may
hurt. progress slowly -add distance first, speed will catchup when you have

I know I should use ice after long run. But I didn't use it much at all
until two days ago, after I ran a HM in the gym in Bellagio hotel in
Vegas, I spent 30 minutes using ice to cool down knees, calves. The result
of using ice is fantastic. Without any rest, I could go out with my wife
to play games in Circus Circus for hours.
Usually after long run, I feel knee pain during following nights. This
time, two nights in a row, I didn't feel any knee pain.
So, use ice after long run!

I was against using ice before because of the influence of Zhong Yi.
My father always tells me to keep knees warm and don't get cold air (Han
Qi) in to the knees. He always objects me using ice after running.
However, after suffering so many nights of knee pains after long run, and
tasted the good result of using ice, I think I will start using ice from
now on each time after long run.

Thanks all. I did participate in a workshop given by a foot docotor who has
been a long time runner. He did mention insole and mentioned to bring the
insole when trying on new shoes. I didn't ask him question because I didn't
have my insole at that time. But it seemed like he didn't mind insole.
BTW, my knee problem is not the joint due to poundding. It is the knee cap
due to improper tracking (runner's knee).

My knees do not bother me when using Superfeet insoles.
I think the reason why the insoles cause knee problem might be that
you lose some cushion when using special insoles, which is stiffer
than the original insoles coming with the shoes.
If you try to use forefoot or midfoot landing, it should help alleviate
the problem of too much impact on the knees.

本来不打算写了,感觉菜鸟没什么好借鉴的。但是昨晚童鞋们很打气,还是交份作业吧
。(怎么,火鸡都开始催了?怎么比语文老师还狠?!)请老大们批评指点,菜鸟们借鉴
。大家会看到俺又犯了新手常见的错误。
-背景
俺笨手笨脚的,玩什么都受伤,最后只好jogging. 但也没有坚持。就是跑两星期歇几
个月那种。前两年为了有动力坚持,就报了两次春季5k。09年22:29, 10年21:46。那时
觉的半马遥不可及。3迈就够累了,还只是斑马的一个零头。但一个比俺还菜很多的同
事老印居然跑了一个斑马,自己不服中就也报了一个秋天的。结果就自己瞎练,周中跑
1-2次3迈,周末跑个长点的。结果上的太快,更主要是姿势不好,搞到第三次10迈,
也是快比赛的时候,就听间膝盖里嘎嘎的乱响。很恐怖的有木有!去一个running
store的免费injury check去问,specialist 确认了是runner’s knee. 就是knee cap
tracking 的问题。建议先不要去跑比赛了。俺一向很听话的。就把号卖给一个胖大叔
,结果被创一个2:45的PR. 心想,也好,下次PR因该没问题。

That is how you hurt your knees, almost the worst case.
The impact from heeling landing on your knees is larger than running on
flats. Therefore we should try to avoid this scenario.
If your calf is not strong enough to hold, then you need to reduce your

怎么个不舒服法?总的说,放受伤要从跑姿下手,要循序渐进。
如果是膝盖冲击的疼,参看good running form。有老大们贴过link.主要对膝盖好的是
保持膝盖弯曲,避免脚跟先落地。不过改姿势也要慢慢来。否则好了膝盖伤了其他。
如果是膝盖盖板后面疼,可能是runner's knee. 是由于盖板track 腿骨不直造成的。
这时要注意跑步时脚尖要指向正前方。同时可以买个knee strap。可以帮助盖板stay
in track.
如果是外侧疼,可能是ITBS. 同样要注意脚尖向前。更重要的是注意收腹保持髋部稳定
。同时也有strap可以有帮助。绑的部位和runner's knee不同。
这只是一家之言。你还要自己多研究琢磨来取舍,包括医生的话。

我现在膝盖上面和kneecap里面弯到一定程度就痛。但也不是每次都痛,而是有时候痛
,有时候不痛。
最初是去年11月份摔了一跤后膝盖下面就痛,好了一段时间,但后来上楼梯就痛。后来
一个医生给了一个knee injection,说我的cartilage因为跑步的关系变的太薄。我不
是很相信他,因为我跑步多,每周最多也就12mile。knee injection后现在下面不痛了
,但是新问题是上面和knee cap里面弯过一定角度就会痛。当然也可以弯。哪位可否帮
忙看看医生写的description,字太潦草,我看不懂。
反正我对那个医生很愤怒,我觉得我的膝盖现在比以前还要差。以前还能在平路上跑,
游泳。现在这两样都不能做了。

I did not buy the hr monitor or gps because I was not sure how far I could
go with the training.
Btw, I liked your recent post on knee exercise and will try to follow some
of the tips. I have problems with my left knee. During the race, I tried to
run on the right half of the road so that I could put less weight on my left
knee.

3. 还剩3个星期,临阵磨枪,不亮也光。现在该用个什么计划训练?跑tempo/interval好象还都行,但是实在不敢再去跑hill training了。

对臀大肌和火鸡腿这个动作特别特别好使:
Bum lifts. 3 x 10
Lie on the floor on your back, with your knees bent. Lift up your bum until
there is a straight line from knee to shoulders; pause slightly and then
lower down slowly. Surprisingly, this exercise works the hamstrings and
gluteals quite hard. As you get stronger, bend the knees less and less until
you can perform the movement with straight legs upon a small step. This is
a functional hamstring exercise as it involves trunk extension.

How old is she? If she is relatively young, like 7-8, you should try to keep
her walking with the injured knee so that the tendon won't heal into bad
shape.
My friend's daughter hurt her knee when we skiied in Vail (similar injury,
twisted her knee when ski did not come off in deep snow), the doctor
suggested her to keep walking even when it hurts badly and swell quite a bit

I bought a pair of black diamond knee pads in addition to my wrist guards
for iceskating after falling on my right knee last time. It was a painful
fall, it forced me to cut short my skiing trip, and took more than a month
to heal. It hurt much more than skiing falls, more dangerous than extreme
skiing in a way :)
The pads are quite slim and comfortable and I feel much more at ease skating
, though I have not fallen on my knees yet again. It is a good utilization
of equipments that don't get use

I think snowboard a bit more dangerous to learn without all the protection
simply because when you fall, you either fall face forward or face backwards.
If you fall backwards - you end up either falling on your butt (not too bad)
, or falling on your hand (much worse), or falling on the back of your head
(absolute worst)
If you fall forward - you end up either falling on your knees (pretty bad),
or falling on your hands (just as bad, if not worse), or falling on your

I think snowboard a bit more dangerous to learn without all the protection
simply because when you fall, you either fall face forward or face backwards.

there is nothing you can do to strengthen the knees. but you can work on the
muscles around them to improve stability and reduce the risk of injuries. I
'm no expert but I know too many friends who have had knee issues. OK, let's
just say, about half of my friends have had issues related to knees :)
You need to strengthen the quads and hamstrings, especially quads. I'd
consult a PT. My PT is Joe at Redmond Ridge. I highly recommend them.

Mogul的小弯叫swing turn,需要在groomer上练习。练习swing turn之前需要能熟练的
转大中小弯。
Swing turn的要领是用膝盖做angulation,膝盖以上基本正对fall line。turn
initiation不能从腰部开始,而是通过的shin pressure压ski tip,同时稍微roll
knees形成lead change,就是down hill knee drop 到up hill knee的内侧。

well, the medical science is in general in a very immature stage
so i cannot tell why my case does not run well. in fact, nobody
can predict the recovery. My muscle is good, flexion and extension
are great at day 1 of physical therapy... however, the knee keeps
bring me pain if i run... i just don't know why... neither does my
surgeon know...

腿部肌肉,特别是大腿前部肌肉发达可以保护膝盖少受伤,比较好的锻炼办法是骑静止
自行车,锻炼过程不伤膝盖。也可以深蹲,不过难度大一点。踢球时候带护膝可以提高
knee cap的位置,knee cap位置高就不容易受伤,特别是腿部力量不够,或者特别疲劳
的情况下。我用一种Mueller Jumper's Knee Strap,amazon有不到10块钱的,很窄的
一小条,效果还可以

首先我觉得你最关键的是要解决打腿的技术问题。从你贴的视频来看你打腿的方式是很
典型的knee driven和锄头脚。如果照这个方式打下去,练多久都没用,只能在歧途上
越走越远。如果我是你,每次练习会以分解动作为主,可以抱板打水*00米,然后夹板
划水*00米。基础动作练出样子了,再合在一起。暂时先不要戴fin。
我之前回复过你,“打腿不是靠小腿的。胯带动大腿,大腿带动小腿。初学的时候,脚
面绷直,膝盖不要弯。”yunlong和我又都在回复中贴了视频,你再读下回复,看看视
频,体会一下。然后再去池子里练练。
最早我的打腿也是knee driven,后来私教指出来,让我改正。就是“脚面绷直,膝盖
不要弯”。这种打法练起来比knee driven累很多很多,但是坚持到底就是胜利。我一
开始25米池,都要中间歇3-4次才能打完25米。没关系,歇好了再接着打。关键是姿势
一定要正确。打腿和划手都是打基础的练习,一定不能偷懒。只有地基打好打深,楼才
能盖得高。
我一年前在这个版上问过类似的问题,当时版上的id们给了很多非常好的建议。你可以

Thanks. I thought if it's a high ball, I don't have to bend my knee too much
. I did bend my knee more to handle low slices or low volleys. But it's hard
to bend like pro did when we get older. Also I saw Federer didn't bend his
knee too much in his warmup videos. So usually I take it easy too during
warmup.

you might want to go to the doctor and take an x-ray
The part of my right leg close to the knee started to hurt 2 month ago for
no reason and finally the knee started to hurt as well (different pains
though) I took an x ray this morning, it showes there is a small crack right
below in knee in the bone. I have no idea how I got this crack.

一般就用knee strap,慎重一点用knee support,knee brace, Walgreen就有。
不过所有的护膝都只是预防和保护,膝盖已经出毛病就没用了。
其实控制体重+腿部肌肉锻炼(马步)比什么护膝都管用。

I totally agree with you. The only thing one can do is to protect knee.
To keep knee warm, just dress more :), in fall one can dress 秋裤 ahead of
time. Another trick as I said: At work I have my computer workstation
underneath the table, and I turned it back with fan blowing hot air to my
knee.
For warm-up or at-home exercise, I think moderate stretch is enough. Don't
do over-stretch in game, and no over-stretch in warm-up either, it doesn't
help anything.

Got the right knee injury April last year. Went to X-ray and MRI and was
told by family doc it is a bone bruise.
I could barely walk first several days. And after several months, I could
run slowly and got back to court, but until now, when I bend my knee, I
still feel the pain and weakness. it is hard to push my knee for direction
change.
How come it takes this long. I thought 8 months to 1 year maximum the bone
bruise should heal itself.

Serve is usually bad for left knee for righty (bad for right knee for lefty)
, because there is so much twist going on. Jumping into the court during
serve is even worse for knee.

-Run 1 mile for time.
-10 push-ups, 10 squats, 10 rounds.
-Tabata Squats: 20 seconds on 10 seconds rest, 8 rounds. Count your lowest
score.
-Handstand to Jack-Knife to vertical jump. 30 Reps.
-Run 1 mile with 100 air squats at midpoint, for time.
-7 squats, 7 burpies, seven rounds, for time.
-10x 30 second handstand to 30 second bottom of the squat hold.
-Burpee to the push up position, do 10 push ups, burpie out. 5 rounds.
-Run 1 mile, plus 50 squats-for time.

以下有几个tip:
(1)平时最好穿,到膝盖以下一点点的靴子,和到膝盖以上一点点的裙子
(2)如果你胆子特别大,而且要出去dating,可以穿膝盖以上的。平时别这样
(3)如果穿迷你裙配及膝靴,袜子一定不能是透明的!!
这句话是我加的,记住,每次都想想Gossip girl 的Serena
穿靴子要到serena的效果而不是stripper的效果。

有的,不同长度有不同的名字。到脚踝的叫ankle length
那种很低的,穿鞋子不露出来的,叫hidden或者no show
其他,到小腿肚下面一点的叫crew length(有可能分1/2和3/4,前者短点)
还有below the knee跟knee high(基本都在膝盖下面一点或者到膝盖骨), over the knee
(膝盖上面),thigh high(大腿中部)等等,买的时候仔细看说明和图片,别买错了。

It's not necesary. There is not scientific proof between long-run and knee
problems. Actually a friend of mine got knee injury from playing volleyball,
the doctor advised him to run in order to strengthen knee muscles, so he
stopped playing volleyball and became a marathon runner.
