Maddux, despite his stellar career, was not voted in unanimous. Some
reporters simply refuse to vote for anyone who played in the steroids era. I
do not agree with this approach. But I respect that.
Maddux is hands down the best pitcher I ever watched. And Randy Johnson is
the most dominant. :) |

Craig Biggio did not make it this year either. He got 74.8 pct. The cutoff
line is at 75%.
I just do not understand why Frank Thomas got in. He was a power hitter like
Sosa and Bonds. Frank Thomas never got caught, of course. But he is a power
hitter in the steroids era. This sounds like double standard to me.
In any case, I am glad that both Maddux and Glavine got in. I just remember
how they tortured my Phillies year in and year out.

突然想写点儿关于棒球的东东。。。起因有二，一是前几天阿童木夺冠的时候，看
到Verlander,Beltran,McCann这些名字感觉是那么的熟悉而又陌生，恍惚间有种
沧海桑田前世今生的深深感慨。。。和好几个曾经一起看过棒球的朋友聊起，都感
觉生娃带娃似乎像一道分水岭，把我们心中属于那个时代的记忆几乎完全给隔断
了，以至于平时已经再也想不起来。。。当时我就产生了想写点儿什么以把那一段
的记忆重新给唤醒的冲动，但因为很忙并且一直也没有找到一个很好的切入点来开
篇，就一直迷迷糊糊地那么拖着，直到suddenly发生了Halladay的tragic
accident。。。it really hit me hard，我自己都不知道是为什么，我并不曾
是他或者是蓝鸟/菲力的粉丝，按理说我不应该感到非常的难过，但事实就是我足足
为此难过了至少一星期。。。当我在youtube上搜着看关于他的那些铺天盖地的
tribute videos尤其是那场perfect game时，感叹的最多的一点就是他真的是太

extended through the entire Padres starting rotation. For instance, runners
were 44 for 44 against 6'10" Chris Young.

Last two years his fastball dropped below 88, which is OK. But at the same
time the sinking motion for whatever reason was gone.
He's not like Greg Maddux. I am sure if Maddux wanted, he could pitch into
his 60s and still get people out. I do hope that he could find his mechanics
back. He now really needs to paint the corners. |

那真是效率的最高境界 兵贵精不贵多
第一次引起我注意 是很多年前GM用76球完投九局
而且他还丢了一分 并不是零封
(下面列表里那些输球的 不知道是不是在客场 只投了八局)

1995年勇士终于拿下萎琐大赛之后
(好像也是亚特兰大城市的第一个职业冠军 现在也是唯一一个?)
"德高望重"的珍芳达(阿龟 没意见吧?) 的老公按捺不住激动
在冠军戒指上自封"Team of the Decade!!"
这个年代才过了一半 猴急个啥呀!!
结果 在Decade剩下的一半里 洋基赢了四次
其中两次是击败勇士赢得
显然更符合"Team of the Decade"的头衔

Maddux当年转会 剩下洋基和勇士两家中挑一家
决定因素 呵呵 是因为他业余时间非常热衷于打高尔夫

他们很快就锁定了死者的身份，他是7年前失踪的高中生，Joshua Maddux。
Joshua失踪于2008年，寒冬某天，他出门以后，就再无音信。他的父母家人也曾寻找多
年，但由于失踪时Joshua已经18岁，警方将他的消失当做男孩子在青春期的叛逆出走来
处理，并没有认真得去解决。

running support, he could easily win 20
plus games a year. Just give him several more years, he

Braves现在连续两天排在国联东第一, 不容易不容易.
最近几场球Braves的棒子们突然沉寂下来, 好在starting rotation里
连续三个牛投Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine和John Burkett都发挥出色,
连续三场球小比分胜出. 三个人这三天加起来一共投了22局半, 只丢
了一分, 充分显示Braves投手豪华阵容的优越性, 其他队不服都不行.
当然, Braves的另两个先发投手Jason Marquis和Odlas Perez都比较
嫩, 水平不可和上面三位同日而语, 到他们手上输球多算是正常.
Tom Glavine以前得过两次赛扬奖, 但今年状态不稳定, 起起伏伏, 责
任失分率(ERA)徘徊在4到6之间. 最近几场球他好象稳定下来了, 重现
两次赛扬奖得主的风采, 希望保持.
John Burkett是咸鱼翻身的典范, 一把年纪被Devil Rays炒了鱿鱼, 心
灰意懒之下本都打算携妻儿回家种地去了, 突然接到Braves电话, 很快

其他都看了, 现在11-11 比去年同时期好点
考虑Sheffield, Maddux,Marquis的伤病,
两场从AA调来投手,现在先发已经用了8个.
其中三场,MOSS, 忘了名字, 韩国人都是MLB处女投
这个结果算凑合吧,只是过程不让人满意.
棒子嘛, 从来就是这样, 也不指望他们能
能有惊人之作.
Andrew最近还不错, Chipper也渐有起色,
只是Javy Loppez,和Franco实在不在状态
尤其是Franco,去年结束前多牛啊,
现在就会DP,帮敌人的忙.现在一看他
蹶着屁股挥棒的样子,我就烦.真不明白
Cox上几场还把他放在Chipper后面,
结果对Marlins那场, 搞了两个DP.
昨天对DBacks,如果还是他, 肯定又没戏了.
现在最大的问题还是防守,
Braves的经典就是考投手和防守控制敌人得个2,3分
然后靠Chipper, Andrew, Brian,Homer,搞个3,4分.
现在 picther还行了,
牛棚也不错,除了被Mets第九局打暴那场,
问题是防守不行.

托TBS的福，看到了Millwood的最后三个outting,晚上又看了重播，
今天就来谈谈感想。
Millwood是我比较熟悉的投手，以前看Braves的比赛就比较多，去年和
今年他又在我的fantasy队里效力。以前他排在Maddux, Glavine和
Smoltz后面，今年转到Phillies担任头号先发。许多人预测他不一定
适应新球场，新球队和No.1 SP的角色，今年前几场球他的发挥有好有坏，
不过这场球面对NL排名第一的Giants,他的表现只能用一个词形容--
brilliant!!!
大概说下比赛进程，开始不太顺利，leadoff walk了一个，不过慢慢他
就找回了感觉，第一二局有点shakey，一个界外球差一点就是homerun
了，好在裁判的strike zone比较大，他的high strike |

我看得恐怕比这里任何人看得都多。 (当然他再在yankees混两年，这话就不成立
了)。playoff打到现在，Moose更是我这种非yankees饭，非sox饭的少数看点之一。
Moose是不是好投手？ absolutely. 是不是HOF投手, 我觉得N年以来就是差一层
窗户纸 (以他三张多的岁数，这层窗户纸看来是很难统破了。)
这层窗户纸到底是什么呢？ 我看主要是stuff因素，心理是其次。
看看现在还active的HOF级的投手和dominate的年轻投手，基本上都有个
strikeout pitch, 所谓杀手剪。 Pedro的changeup, 大件的slider,
超级马力的cutter, zito的curveball, Beckett前两天的4线高heater也
是屡K不爽。Moose属於多球路型， 没有dominate stuff. 又不象Maddux
最辉煌的时候总可以赢得裁判的call strike. 所以很吃亏。一度他曾经
号称全MLB里武器库最全的。16种球路。但真要到最 |

is pretty clear out there, even for super stars. Not every team is
going to open their checkbook and empty their checking account.
15M/y looks very fair to me. Look, Bonds only got a little bit more
than that, and nobody can be compared to Bonds skillwise.
When talking about agents, I can't help thinking about Soctt Borass.

Unit, imho, is the best pitcher in his era, even better than
Rocket and Maddux. He should have won at least one more CY
award (2004, robbed by Rocket). He could be wild, like in the

Talking about consistency, Greg Maddux became the first ever pitcher
in MLB history to win 10+ games for 20 consecutive seasons. He is also
named the smartest player in MLB by his fellow players.
There are 3 No-hitters in 2007, all in AL. Not bad. But can't really
compare with what happened in 1991 in which 7 no hitters were pitched.

part of career.
This just can't be a complete list. Players like Schilling, Rolen and Thome
are still suspicious to me. I probably would not doubt Randy Johnson and
Greg Maddux though. But again, what do I know?? |
