1）Population genetics
模型特点：着重于描述遗传学规律对生物进化和多样性的影响，简化生态学因素。模型
多为stochastic model
代表人物：Fisher、Kimura等
主要数学工具：各种随机过程模型
由于基因组测序技术的成熟，纯粹做理论群体遗传学的基本上没有了，现在基本上都是
population genetics + bioinformatics
2）Theoretical ecology
模型特点：着重于研究生物之间的interaction及生物和环境的关系，简化遗传学因素
。相对于stochastic model，貌似deterministic model更流行。
代表人物：Maynard Smith等
主要工具：各种动力学模型，game theory
狭义的mathematical biology一般都指这个方向。数学出身的做这个领域的很多。纯理
论的研究依然比较流行。
3）Metabolic flux analysis
代表了那种定量研究生理现象的方向。现在与之相关的比较 |

发帖数: 1428 | 15 我是做这个的。基本上做mathematical biology不需要任何生物的背景，我以前是学生
物的现在做应数，感觉生物背景并没有多大帮助。Biomath本质上还是math，它只是以
生物问题作为一个出发点和终结点，在过程中提出模型或理论，用推导证明结合
simulation来证明这个模型的fit程度同时预测一些结果。我觉得你修的那些课差不多
了，biomath里面用到最多的就是ODE，PDE，证明会用到real analysis etc。如果你真
要做一些比较hot的东东，最好还要增加一点stochastic process的背景，我觉得这些
做基本的biomath就差不多。biologist的优势在于他能够基于对生物问题的理解提出一
些适合model的问题。

楼主要做mathematical model不见得非得把那些数学方法都学会，所谓千招会不如一招
鲜。最典型的例子就是Kimura，他主要用的数学方法就一个diffusion process，那两
个偏微分方程翻过来来到过去应用于生物学问题，最后成为一代泰斗。 |

语言学过去主要靠人观察、搜集数据然后分析出pattern
并且想办法对这些pattern给予解释，
比如从production，perception和信息论的角度来说明那些pattern的作用
后来逐渐上升出一些很抽象的、争议很大的heuristic的模型
到了现在，比较流行的是用统计和机器学习的方法来发现rule
并且用计算机科学里的learning theory来解释各种现象
现在计算语言学的一些方法已经直接用在了生物信息学上
但是生物领域对语言学还没多少直接贡献（很久以前有贡献）

多课程都是pde，numerical methods， finite element methods，functional
analysis之类的课程，还有一些具体的modelling的课程，比如Mathematical Ecology
and Biology，Stochastic Differential Equations，Fluid Mechanics，Nonlinear
Systems，Statistical Mechanics等等。当然还有编程的课程，c＋＋， matlab。
你说的很对，他们都很需要和experimentalists合作，他们做modelling需要我们的数
据。我说的他们不欢迎我们的意思是到具体做modelling的时候，他们就不欢迎我们啦
，当然这也可以理解，毕竟我们学生物的多数都不学数学，也很少用到数学。 |

我下了之后，直奔高斯的传记。
看了关于高斯的几个八卦，还挺有意思。
-高斯心算能力很强
-高斯从十几岁开始一直保持着记录科学日记的习惯，记录他每天对数学的思考。
-高斯把学习语言当作一种爱好，七十多岁了又开始学习俄语。
他觉得学习新的语言能让他的大脑保持年轻。
他学习俄语完全靠自学。自学没多久很快就能阅读俄语的文学作品了。
俄语和英语文学作品给他带来了很多的快乐。
据他的一些俄罗斯数学家朋友说，高斯的俄语口语也是"perfect"的。
-高斯曾被拿破仑罚款2000法郎
-高斯不喜欢政治，但他每天用一个小时的时间读报来了解各地发生的事情。
他并不相信那些新闻的报道，但他有能力从这些报道中推测出真正发生的是什么事情。
（是不是类似某些人读《人民日报》的风格？）

错.现在准备交钱上个学, 这两个专业选哪个呢?
本人想法是,如果学数学, 就想以后考个什么教育证书,走教育的路子,优势是工作稳定,
劣势是工作机会没那末多.
如果学EE, 估计自己不太可能走教育的路子,几乎只能去公司讨饭,优势是工作机会多,
劣势是可能得经常遭遇换工作. |
