Nanowires seem to be able to solve all kinds of problem. I know lots of
people are working on nanowire solar cells, nanowire LEDS, nanowire FET.....
My question is that:
Is it a really good idea to use nanowire for making semiconductor devices.
Here are my arguments:
1. surface to volume ratio is so damn high for a nanowire.
2. Surface is a 2 dimensional defect, which creates electric field, non-
radiative combanation centers, unwanted energy states, etc. All these are
killers for semicondut

金属nanowire悬浮液(液体是乙醇)
试着用超声波打散
然后滴一两滴到玻璃上
等液体挥发后用afm扫描
问题是,nanowire打散的不好
仍旧团在一起,基本上找不到单根的nanowire
请问,有什么简单的方法让nanowire在溶液中分散的好一点?

A postdoctoral researcher is needed to work on the synthesis of nanowires in
the Nanostructures and Reliability Laboratory at the University of South
Carolina (www.me.sc.edu/research/nano). The candidate should have true hands
-one experience with the synthesis of nanowires, AFM, HRTEM, and other
characterization tools. The candidate also needs to construct nanosensors.
Previous experience about nanosensing will be great. If you are interested
in this position, please feel free to contact Prof.

Maybe you can make sandwiched structure, like ABA and both A and B share the
same catalyst metal. There are many interesting things to think about, such as
how to improve the optical confinement, how to observe the dynamic response
from a single nanowire, how to do electronic pumping instead of optical
pumping.
Another question is that, is it possible to bend the nanowire when you grow
it?

As far as I know, very difficult. Nanowire/nanotube in ME is very funny
field. Paper, you can not compete against MatSE, Chem. Job, what you learned
is almost useless in industry. Traditional ME is much more useful, like
heat and mass transfer, design, etc.

In the paper, basically the light is coupled out using a chemically etched
silica fiber. What's the technique of making the tip of the fiber about 100
nm? And how does he know the distance of the fiber tip to the sample?
Any one knows if it's possible to dope certain element at specific positions

让我们再回到王中林的纳米发电机这件事情上。
1. 首先这里面存在的一个疑点就是为什么他要选择和中科院合作这样一种方式去开展
他的研究工作。
一般来说在国外如果是和应用有紧密关联的科研项目在取得初步成果之后研究者
往往采取获得商业投资的方式来继续下面的研发工作。这样的好处是可以最大化的保护
自己的利益。
假如成果或专利是在中科院或是国外大学取得的该专利的所有权属于学校或研究所。
研究者只能取得一部分分成。
而通过和风险投资等社会资本合作则可以最大化自己在这里面的收益。 例如崔屹
就成立了自己的公司研究锂电池技术。
因此自己不去成立公司进行这方面的研发多少暴露了本人对于这项技术的应用前
景的不自信以及市场对其前景的不认可。

2. 关于为什么除了在自己美国的实验室开展这方面研究外还要在国内另外开辟一片研
究所。

1) using different substrate's lattice parameter to control the crystal
direction of nanowire. such as 001 111 etc. very useful.
