I have never seen one. If it exists, it may not worth working for.
When call from the hiring manager, say the following things:
1. Thanks for extending me an offer.
2. That sounds attractive and I will seriously consider it.
3. Could you have the offer sent to me in writing? or at least scanned the

The only legitimate leverage for negotiation is to show another offer,
not necessary from a better school. Without that, everything else is
really marginal.
For equipments, you can make a list that you are using in the current
lab/institute. There are essential and optional ones. Most schools
encourage to share with other faculty. It's best to talk to sales rep
yourself to get a quote. The model and price change frequently and any

the book only helps readers build up their awareness and then it will take
more practice of those negotiation techniques to become really good at it.
the author told his students or readers to never believe that a lecture or
book alone makes the change. nowhere in his book can you find anything like
"read my book and you'll become a negotiation expert."

个人已经决定去这个职位了,不过实在不了解工业界的情况。
诚心请教,这个基本工资还能negotiate么?

其实所谓的讨价还价就是negotiation,这是每个人的权利,在哪找工作都少不了这个
过程,negotiation也不代表讨价还价太狠或者会为几个小条件纠缠不清甚至闹翻撕破
脸。
如果怕以后发不了paper被人笑话而放弃bargain属于个人选择。但我认为即使不
bargain以后发不了paper同样也不光彩,所以放弃bargain似乎不是一个合理的退路。
大家都知道中国有不少这样那样的问题,但其实在哪都不会那么perfect。总之还是那
句话,愿意跟学校叫板的就叫板,愿意打折的也没人拦着,都是个人选择。我们只是希
望有人能为前者提供一些好的建议。

其实没有太多negotiation的意义。国内政策多变,大学也是翻云覆雨。 negotiation
的再好也会变的。
要是真想回,待遇差不多就行了。关键是看你回去后能不能混出个人摸狗样。如果你真
能混,不差这点钱。前几年回国内商学院的,现在大多已赚的盆满饽满了。机遇总是与
风险并行的。尤其是对research兴趣不大的,想回还是趁早,现在也许还能分一杯羹,
太完了恐怕只能喝西北风了。
如果觉得自己还是块research的料,还是在美国先锤炼锤炼。国内诱惑太多,不适合年
轻人成长。成了腕了,什么时候回去都一样。待遇自然也不会是问题。

If two offers offer exactly the same salary, how should we negotiate on the
money part? I have two such offers, and I know I want to go to school A
though school B's offer is better in some other aspects which school A has
said explicitly non-negotiable.
I almost feel that the fact I have two offers at hand wont' help me to get a
better deal from School A.

base 105k一年
标准relocation package
其中每个月另外给住房补助~$15k一年),给2年
想跟公司negociate一下,请问以下几个问题
1.能够让公司把住房补助算到base里面去么?比如base 105k->115k,然后就不要这个住
房补助了。还是这个住房补助属于relocation package里面的,所以没啥negotiate的空
间,不能算到base里面?
2.如果补助不能变到base里,base希望涨一点,还价多少比较合理?(现在人在中部学
校工作,所以工资对新工作的工资参考不大。)
求有类似经验的前辈指点

拿到一个药厂offer,base salary在这个title level是在网上能查到的范围内比较高
的数字了,但还是准备negotiate一下salary。如果没有办法更高,请问大药厂都有哪
些别的benefit是negotiable的呢?
像vacation,personal days 之类的都是固定的吧?bonus target rate呢? 感觉没什
么可以谈的,除了工资以外。。

Company made me an offer, and HH told me not to negotiate. He said this is
the max company can pay, and he is not willing to negotiate more for me.
I am not sure if I should go around the HH and talk directly to company's HR
. Seems HH already told them I will accept this offer, although I did not.
If I call HR and ask for a 5% raise, will that make me look bad or even make
them withdraw the offer?
What is the best strategy to explain my situation to the company?

2) You are prepared to decline their offer (and accept a competing offer) if
it is not raised significantly.
Many people try to negotiate without the above mentioned. Usually, the best
