三月的凤凰城春意盎然, 正好又是女儿的学校放Spring Break, 就琢磨着往北边去遛达
一圈,也好让孩子们见见久违的白雪. 略加研究, 就确定了一个Phoenix -> Flagstaff
-> Grand Canyon -> Petrified Forest的三日游.
(1)准备篇
路线一旦定了, 接下来就是门票啊,旅馆什么的. 先说门票. 因为这一路有好几个
National Park/Monument, 所以就去order了national park annual pass. 80刀一个,
管一家四口正好, 外加5刀处理费. standard free shipping. 因为定得急, 就要了
FedEx Overnight, 后来看信用卡帐单, charge了 $7.73.

(2). 3/14. 从Phoenix 到 Flagstaff
Travel 计划一出来我就千叮万嘱领导:一定要准时出门. 还好, 9:15把车开出了车库,
只比计划晚了一刻钟. 一路阳光明媚, freeway从六条lane变成四条lane, 然后是3条
lane, 然后HOV也没了, 眼看着就要爬山了, 突然想起: 刚买的annual pass还在抽屉里
! 看计程表已经有60迈了.怎么办? "回去拿!"领导一声令下, 我只好掉头迎着沙漠的烈
日开去...等再次从driveway开出来, 好家伙, 已经11:30了! 得, 还是没有按时出发! |

(3). Montezuma Castle National Monument
这个monument在I-17旁边, exit 289下去两迈就到了. 开始我还以为是印第安人对抗白
人的城堡, 其实就是几家人住的岩洞, 依山傍水,风水选得不错. 但这个所谓的castle
也太简陋了, 还是A.D.1100-1300年左右的事. 想想那个时候咱们的祖辈已经用钓鱼城
这样的堡垒击退了蒙古人的进攻,套用某神医的话来说,印第安人被灭, 也是有原因的. |

(4). Sedona
从Montezuma Castle出来不远下到179,在初春的Coconino National Forest中蜿蜒不到
十分钟, 眼前突然出现一片红色的天地:红色的山峰, 红色的土壤, 路牌上写着Welcome
to Redrock Country! 仿佛就是回到了四川老家, 所不同的是老家的山上种的都是广
柑树, 而这里全是矮矮的pines 和 bush.
Sedona是个很有特色的小山城, 海拔1400米, 冬暖夏凉,是凤城人民避暑的胜地.尤其是
周围的这些 red rock, 在日落日出的时候特别美丽. 周围的几个州立公园, 都是
hiking的好去处.
这个街边的牌子在其它地方难得见到吧:) |

从Sedona到Flagstaff的89A, 这短短的25迈的行程据说是曾被评为全美的most scenic
route的. 公路基本上是跟着Oak Creek在峡谷中穿行, 两边山峰耸立, 怪石嶙峋, 越往
上走树木越多越高大. 女儿兴奋地大叫:"雪!雪!我看到雪了!" 抬眼望去, 白雪点点,
散布在崇山峻岭之中. 要是早一个星期来, 估计是可以滑雪的了, 可惜可惜! 又或是秋
天过来, 想必又是色彩斑斓的画卷... |
