usually infertile and has characteristics of both parents. The hybrid has
distinct tiger bars on a light background, similar to the barred coloration
pattern of some muskie. Its fins and tail lobes are rounded like a northern

周末去钓了三次鱼
一次上了几条小sunny几条baby bass
没有一条超过6"的...
还损失5套tube/senko
一次上一条10"左右的小嘴+一条20"多的northern
结果northern直接把我的20lb的线咬断了...
损失两套tube
一次上了一条7"左右的crappie+一条小northern
损失一套CM
看来鱼品爆发一次也不是那么好攒的啊... |

冰冷的晨曦中做第一班船，老船长说鱼情slow，GD同学表示不好的预感，水位“不正常
”的低，老船长说这水位是四年以来第一次回复正常，sign，原来GD都把以前不正常的
高水位当做正常。
水草好多啊，鱼不要勾。。。GD同学很给力，上了一条walleye,小A同学第一钓鱼上了
条Northern pike,钓鱼台第一条大鱼，真是鼓舞士气啊！mayo上了条Sauger，还有一条
长了腿的鱼儿，娃娃鱼！长得超可耐！！等小A来上pp~
水草太多了，Mayo带领转站另一个大坝，这个小了很多坝儿！有上crappie，Northern
pike，恭喜恭喜！
跟着Mayo钓鱼特别欢乐，虽然手指头都被扎伤了，但是第一次亲眼看到那么大的
Northern pike，牙齿好锋利，把Mayo的手指咬了。Bless伤口快快好！

同一种事物有不同的名称和叫法，是很正常的事情。如何称呼我们常钓的鱼？对于我们
原本只熟悉“四大家鱼”的中国移民而言，一是涉及英文翻译问题，还有一个广东话和
普通话的发音差异，再加上本身鱼的英文叫法就有多重，因此，鱼的中文叫法就更是五
花八门。
就拿四大家鱼来说，鲤鱼 草鱼 鲢鱼和鳙鱼（俗称胖头鱼），在北美这边（主要是美国
， 四大家鱼除了鲤鱼在加拿大随处可见，其余的目前还没进入大湖），统称为“鲤鱼
”，上述四种分别是“COMMON CARP, GRASS CARP, SILVER CARP和BIGHEAD CARP”,而
其中胖头鱼，则美国的渔业中他们就常叫成 BLACK CARP（黑鲤鱼，区别于SILVER），
在加拿大的华人超市里则叫“崇鱼”。
“老子”说“名不正则言不顺”。为了便于交流，此处特别倡议，北美的渔友们，群策
群力，民主投票，给常见的及容易引起混乱的可钓鱼类“正名”, 也便于我们以及将来
和中国内地的路亚爱好者经验交流，也给中国渔业尤其是养殖业一个合理的统一叫法，

virginia的具体情况。
说到美国的枪，Virginia总算有名了吧，就算以前不行，近来Virginia Tech也该名声
大振了吧。Field and Stream曾经把Virginia Tech列为Top 5 college for hunting
and fishing. Virginia的Jefferson National forest, George Washington National
Forest, 是大块大块的public land，给没钱去private land打猎的人提供了不少机会。
来了Northern Virginia, 就不一样了，人多地少，打猎就得更辛苦一些。
时间：本来嘛，打猎就是辛苦的事情，如果不是经常日出以前就到位的话，顶多只能算
个持械hiking.持械hiking不是still hunting, still hunting还是比较有效的。 二者
区别是1.走路要慢到即使走山路都不需要低头看路，脚掌每次放下去都是脚跟脚板脚尖

的航班上。northern lights虽然k2的折扣小，但是每个航班都可以用，可以glacier
landing。没有glacier landing的航班，northern lights也有talkeetna aero的买一

仔细研究研究再下结论吧。参加这些tour，也可能还是northern lights划算。。 |

fairbanks and back, hoping to get a glimpse of the northern light. but b/c
of the weather, it was cloudy and rainy, northern light was nowhere to be

then there is a distinction b/w northern wu and southern wu. in a more
strict version, jiangnan only denotes northern wu area, which does not
include zhejiang's taizhou, jinghua, wenzhou, quzhou.
northern wu is very coherent -- any two people can communicate, while
southern wu is very diversified, often not intelligible across one mountain. |

我现在是PhD第二年，去年rotation之后加入现在的实验室。老板是个美国人，年长，

人。老板去年末给我一个项目，genome-wide screening,方法纯粹是Northern来找我们
兴趣
的基因。当时老板给这个项目的时候，我并不是很喜欢，因为本能地觉得做筛选风险性
会比较高，筛
到筛不到都是未知。但是碍于老板多次建议，所以就答应下来了。
但是现在发现这个项目有多么的tedious，并且如果要如期--按照我老板的话说1年内--
完成筛
选，就以为着我每周要跑六个胶，做六个Northern,并且周周都要用同位素。tedious我
还是可以
接受的。但是我最担心的就是每周都要用同位素，并且连续两年甚至以上。这让我对自
己的健康很担
忧。
当初接这个项目的时候，老板说我会和另外一个人一起做，但是目前来看那个人一直

这种传统方式的screening其实很不经济。
从老板的角度来说，有几个原因应该选择high throughput screening methods：
1. time。多数时候这些project都有competition。时间是决定这篇paper发cell还是
pnas，甚至进垃圾堆的决定性因素。而手动screening是无论如何无法与high
throughput的方法比的。
2. economy。选择比较成熟的high throughput的方法的话，使用的人很多，说明经济
上是比较合算的，大家都不是傻瓜，都很在乎钱。比如说microarray，其实做一次才几
百块。而isotope，一瓶也要上百。如果需要超过5瓶的isotopes，那就不合算了。
3. big picture。你做northern，不会想把所有基因都做一遍吧？如果发现了一个有意
思的是不是就停止了？而high throughput的方法会screen所有的基因，保证你不会
miss掉一个更有意思的。
4. sensitivity。northern很不敏感。靠band的深浅能分辨的差别需要很大才行。而

首先，这篇评论是目前我看到的写得相对最中肯的一片，原因很简单，作者确实是这个
领域的人，且就事论事，没有想很多人那样屁股决定脑袋。文章的开头和结尾已经给作
者的态度清清楚楚定了基调。所以有人希望用这篇评论来扯什么“皇帝的新衣漏洞百出
”的淡，请回头再仔细看看作者自己的是怎么明确表态的。当然某些人惯于断章取义，
这些人不早生个40-50年真是太浪费了。
闲话不表了。一篇好paper，并非一定是十足完美而没有质疑的，但一篇好paper一定是
经得起质疑经得起时间考验的。眼下很多实验室包括作者包括我自己都正在基于NTCP这
一新发现进行新的研究，时间自然会说明一切。
这篇文章，指出了原paper中的诸多不足，其中的一部分我也是很同意的，事实上拿出
任何一片CNS paper，基本都可以照猫画虎的说出个123点不足和缺陷来。至少我们在开
journal club的时候，无论出自哪个杂志/谁人之手，还没有哪篇paper能幸免的。重要
的问题是，这些质疑和不足，是否根本性的动摇了文章的基本结论，还是只不过是需要
