used prohibited inputs such as GMO's, synthetic pesticides (organic farms
are allowed to use natural plant based insecticides and fungicides) Sewage

annually and farmer must have excellent farm record so there is a paper

，farm raised怕有激素，不太敢吃。
结果今天看到医院给的seafood shopping list, 反而推荐吃farm raised, 反而因各种
原因建议少吃野生的，原因包括： Habitat damage, overfished, mecury, PCBs and

When should they come out?
I checked out several places where they normally showed up last year. But
none of places had any sign of them. They were gone!?
Or maybe this is not good time for them to come out?
I am not sure. But last year I kept killing them for the whole Fall with a
lot of experiments: pesticide, fire, hot water, hammer, heat gun etc.
I don't know whether they were dead or they are still hibernating. |

1) buy some ant killer as bait.
this method is ok. but slow. And if you have a dog or a cat in your yards,
pesticide may be dangerous to them.
2) hammer it
this method is fast. sometimes the ants can bite you if you hammer them.
and the soil gets too tight. there will be a dent on the ground.
3) heat gun
this method is fast. But it is difficult to kill ants in the deep hole.
3) manifying glass
this method is fun. It works only on a sunny day.

今年刚接手的草地，简直是焦头烂额。
草是KBG, 6月接手的时候绿油油一片，有点clover. 接手后啥也不懂， sprinkle
system 当时也没开。等了一个星期才开了sprinkle, 草地有大概0.5acre, 分了5个区
。开始的时候设置的是一个区3分钟，现在知道时间太短。三天浇一次。
过了一个星期，看了clover 不爽，上了一次weed and food, 然后天就热起来，90度左
右。
过了一个星期，发现草地有一片开始变黄。请教别人后说是水不足，于是水调到30分钟
一个区，天天浇。但是发黄区还是变大。后来得知房子转手的时候，原房主早春没有上
pesticide, 我们对面的院子完全疏于管理，据说那边过来的杂草和虫很多。于是7月初
上了杀虫药。并且上个星期一直大雨。
现在的问题是发黄的草还有救吗？最近好像有新草冒出来。
现在还要天天浇水吗？
现在可以上肥吗？买了scott 的lawn food for summer, 还没敢用。
原来草地有clover, 现在有一种新的草出来，看着不像weed, 但是不是KBG. 问了

也在寻找organic的杀虫剂,以前收藏过一个帖子,明年有空尝试尝试.
用这种得话,我的体会是:
- 要喷宽一点
- 不要喷到雨水能淋得到的地方,所以喷到siding内下方的seal是个好办法.
- 不要忘记车库门顶部的siding和壁炉外墙的siding.我今年只顾到了地面的,结果马
蜂跑到车库门的顶部siding里和壁炉外墙siding下做窝了. |
