也算不枉作西雅图人一场。
这个周末恰好赶上一年一度的薰衣草节，天气又是最适合去郊外远足，多云，湿润而凉
爽，于是欣然前往。先开车到Edmonds,再转渡轮。不消半个小时“漂洋过海”，就辗转
来到Sequim。
Sequim背山面水，历史上是个畜牧业小镇，牧草丰美，从1995年才开始大规模种植薰衣
草。目前大约有四十来家农场，每年种植约110,000株薰衣草。
每次一想到薰衣草，除了扑鼻而来的温馨馥郁的香气外，脑海里总是不由自主会回荡起
那首古老的英格兰民谣《Lavender's Blue》。

they have lodge. I never stayed though. there are some cabins between green
water and crystal too. I never checked.
I never had to, even on 2wd. there is no mountain pass and they plough the
road very well. |

repeated told on the chair) think this is nothing.
But it was my first "fresh" powder run, amazing! The last minute switch to a
very fat demo ski also helped. I was riding Tram and Gad2 for a few hours,
as suggested by a local. The upper peruvian still have some soft powder in
the afternoon, but the lower half of mountain becomes painful with powder
ploughed away and the icy under surface revealed.

我看到网上有说：是传统windshield wiper finish low，比如在髋部，
还有人说有点类似纳豆的reverse forehand，但是挥比较快，plough through比较短。

平时这个装和收都费时间，而且推完后地上没有铲雪机/手铲得干净，所以平时俺都不
用，就这种天气的时候用。呵呵，是不错，人不累，而且街口的结实雪墙也轻松拿下。

湿的雪重，铲雪机也没办法，抛不出去，卷起来的雪像冰激凌。通常只有用人工铲或者
plough推。
雪湿还有个麻烦是有叶子的树（包括松树和上一年没有掉完叶子的树）会被雪包住，雪
粘在上面落不下来，然后变得很重很重，直到把树枝甚至整棵树压倒。如果是马路边，
倒下的树会砸断电/通信线路，也会导致交通中断。
不过湿雪的好处是好滚雪人。干的雪滚不起来。 |

一套＂硬＂书，是钱穆先生的＜晚学盲言＞，上下两册，书很好，但难读，我只读了上
册的一半多点，就搁下了。此书颇宜枕上读，可快速入梦。
一套＂闲＂书，是＂绿野仙踪＂, 也是上下两册。这个绿野仙踪不是那个电影，是清朝
人李百川的长篇小说。是本集神魔、修仙、世情百态于一体的奇文异志. 我从小一直喜
欢这类庸俗易读的章回小说。这部书最出色的是人物描写。四十年来我忝然算是博览群
书，此书人物描写之生动精妙，在中外名著中都算是上乘。可惜被题材所误，不登大雅
之堂。此书宜于厕上读。
一本＂哀＂书，是新晋诺奖得主的 。读后很久不能忘怀常常回想，
并特意看了电影。作者文笔非常淡雅，表面波澜不兴，实则细思恐极。全书的结尾非常
优美，意境悠远，让读者介于泪和不泪之间，达到＂哀而不伤＂的境界。

为什么mean /ˈmiːn/ 而 meant念 /ˈmɛnt/？
为什么/u:/ 可以拼写为‘oo’， 'u', 'u-e', 'ui', 'ue', 'o', 'oe', 'o-e', 'o-b
', 'ou', 'ough' 'ew 12种形式？
为什么tough里面的ou念/ʌ/，但though里面的ou念/oʊ/？后者的gh不发音，
前者要发/f/？而在plough里面又念/au/?
就读音而已，英语是西方语言里最最不表音的语言了，根本就是一团浆糊。 |
