快，使沿海城市更容易受到海平面上升的影响。
上海位于亚洲最长河流长江入海口附近的低洼冲积平原上。为满足其经济快速发展和工
业化进程的需求，地下水的过度抽取已导致该城开始下陷。目前，科学家们说，极地冰
盖融化造成的海平面上升，加上摩天大楼的影响，上海面临的地陷危险变得更加严重。
上海同济大学海洋地质学教授兼中国科学院院士的汪品先在路透社全球环境首脑会议上
说，"海平面上升是全球变暖带来的世界性影响。但是，地面沉降使上海和天津成为中
国受到最大威胁的两个沿海城市。"
另有一些科学家则认为高层建筑仅导致轻微的地面下沉，而建筑技术创新可以减轻下沉

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - A growing and aging population, along with
increased access to health insurance, will create the need for 52,000 more
